SMS Equipment is seeking a detail-oriented and proactiveย Purchasing Coordinatorย to join our team. In this role, youโ€™ll deliver operational excellence in receipt handling, invoice processing, and travel program administration. This role is ideal for someone who takes ownership, influences without authority, and wants to make a meaningful impact in a dynamic corporate environment.

This is a temporary position with a term of approximately 12 months.

Work Location:ย Acheson, AB.
Salary:ย $50,000 - $60,000 annually. This temporary position is eligible for extended health benefits.
Work Arrangement:ย Hybrid โ€“ providing the flexibility to work remotely up to 2 days per week.
Schedule:ย Monday to Friday.

What You'll Do

  • Receive and validate materials and services against purchase order (PO) and non-PO invoices.
  • Ensure accurate coding, reconciliation, and processing of invoices in compliance with corporate policies.
  • Resolve discrepancies by collaborating with Purchasing, Accounts Payable, and internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain thorough receipt documentation to support financial accuracy and vendor relationships.
  • Administer the corporate travel program, including invoice coding, reconciliation, and support for Concur Travel systems.
  • Provide backup support for Executive travel arrangements as needed.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for improving travel-related processes and governance.
  • Support Logistics teams with receipt handling and invoice processing to ensure consistency across functions.
  • Champion continuous improvement by leveraging technology (AI, OCR, RPA) to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Uphold strong governance practices and compliance with purchasing, travel, and financial policies.

What You Bring

The ideal candidate will haveย a post-secondary education in Business Administration or Supply Chain Managementย andย 2-3 years of related purchasing experience.ย Equivalent combinations of education and/or experience will be considered. Additional qualifications include:

  • Strong critical thinking, decision-making, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to influence without authority and build effective working relationships.
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have:

  • Experience in parts or manufacturing environments.
  • SCMP or PCSM certification.
  • Experience with AI, OCR and RPA technologies.
