The General Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing a variety of maintenance tasks to ensure that Collington’s senior living facility remains in excellent operational and safe condition. This is a hands-on role that requires a strong maintenance aptitude, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service. The role involves performing routine maintenance, responding to urgent repair needs, work tickets and ensuring the safety and comfort of residents and team members. The General Maintenance Technician will uphold the facility's high standards of care and maintain an environment that promotes the well-being of its residents and team members.

Essential Functions

  • Perform routine inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance on all facility systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and safety systems.
  • Address maintenance requests from residents, staff, and management promptly.
  • Conduct minor repairs, including but not limited to painting, carpentry, and drywall patching.
  • Replace light bulbs, fix leaky faucets, and handle other basic maintenance tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, building codes, and facility policies and procedures.
  • Properly utilizes basic hand tools safely and effectively, ensuring compliance with manufacturer recommendations.
  • Conduct safety checks and respond to any hazards or emergency maintenance issues.
  • Respond to resident maintenance requests in a timely and courteous manner.
  • Ensure minimal disruption to residents when performing maintenance tasks in their living spaces.
  • Maintain a professional and friendly demeanor when interacting with residents and staff.
  • Maintain cleanliness and appearance of common areas, grounds, and walkways.
  • Assist with landscaping, snow removal, and other seasonal outdoor maintenance.
  • Ensure all common areas are safe, clean, and properly maintained.
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure seamless facility operations.
  • Communicate with facility leadership regarding major repairs, equipment needs, or safety concerns.
  • Available to work weekends and respond to weather-related emergencies.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • A minimum of 5 years of building maintenance, HVAC, electrical, or plumbing experience is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in maintenance, preferably in a healthcare, senior living, or residential facility environment.
  • Additional certifications (e.g., HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, and OSHA safety) are a plus.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems, general carpentry, and facility repairs.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Basic computer skills and comfort using various software, apps, and computer programs.
  • Ability to proactively work with other team members under limited supervision.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow technical standards and maintenance procedures.
  • Knowledge of material handling equipment and hand and power tools.

Physical Demands
