This opening is for 2nd Shift, Monday through Thursday - 4:15pm to 2:15am


SUMMARY

The Warehouse Spotter Driver is responsible for moving trailers to be loaded and staged for pickup / transport using a tractor-trailer truck. This could include transporting goods from one city location to another. You will operate a truck with a maximum capacity of 80,000 pounds per gross vehicle weight. The employee must have a valid CDL Class A driver's license.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Drives spotter truck to move trailers for loading, unloading, and staging in the lot.
  • Performs proper hook up and tug test of trailer to 5th wheel on spotter truck
  • Inspects truck before each shift and complete inspection sheet indicating truck condition. Report all damage to dispatch and customer, if on customer property.
  • Report to dispatcher immediately of any incidents / accidents.
  • Maneuvers truck into docks for loading and unloading.
  • Adhere to safety procedures for company and all customers.
  • Report serious mechanical problems to the appropriate personnel.
  • DOT regulations require drivers to submit to random drug and alcohol screenings
  • Regular attendance and timeliness are an expectation.
  • Driving assignments / hours subject to change to meet business and customer demands. 
  • Keep their truck and associated equipment clean and in good working order.
  • Maintains high level of sanitation with practicing clean as you go method. Adhere to GMP (General Manufacturing Practices) training.
  • Personal conduct in a professional manner while representing the company and our customers.

Additional Duties:

  • Spotters at Nestle Purina
  • Perform daily inspection of the spotter truck, fill out daily spotter inspection sheet, and report all damage to dispatch and Nestle.
  • Communicate out of service trailers and dock doors to Nestle personnel, including damage to trailers.

Additional Duties (Continued):

  • Spotters at Nestle Purina:
  • Report any incidents / accidents to dispatch and Nestle personnel immediately.
  • Comply with all customer safety policies including PPE, cell phone usage, and speed limits.
  • Ensure trailers are sealed.
  • Ensure trailers are straight, spacing is not too close/too far apart, and keep an eye on the lot. Report any suspicious actions in the parking lot to Nestle personnel.
  • The spotter tractor cannot leave NPPC Property.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience 

Class A CDL Driver must:

  • Have a valid Class A CDL
  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Have at least 2 years of Class A driving experience
  • Commit no falsification and/or omissions on any part of the application
  • Provide a verifiable employment record for the past 3 years
  • Provide Social Security card or other personal identification
  • Have US citizenship, permanent residency, or be an Alien with Authorization for employment granted by the US Immigration and Naturalization Service
  • Meet FMCSA regulations for driving a tractor-trailer
  • Pass a mandatory drug screen; have no record of a positive drug test with any previous employer in the past 10 years
  • Pass a valid DOT physical
  • Pass the Clausen Company drive test
  • Complete Clausen Company Driver Orientation
  • Complete Clausen Warehouse Spotter Training
  • Have the ability to perform the essential functions of a Clausen Company driver with or without reasonable accommodation

Driving Record

  • No more than one preventable accident in a CMV in the past year. No more than 2 preventable accidents in a motor vehicle in the last 3 years.
  • Rollover must be over 3 years (Commercial Vehicle only)
  • Jack-knife, rear-end, U-turn, or topped tractor/trailer must be over one year (Commercial Vehicle only).
  • Serious violations in a CMV (defined in the FMCSR 383.51) 
  • None in the last 24 months
  • One in the last 3 years
  • No more than 1 moving violation within the last 12 months
  • No more than 3 moving violations within the last 3 years

Driving Record (Continued)

  • No reckless driving tickets in the last 3 years
  • All careless driving tickets in the last 3 years will be reviewed
  • No record of driving while suspended in the last 3 years (Suspension for moving violations only. If verification is required, driver must provide).
  • No speeding citations of 15 mph or above in the last 24 months
  • No license suspensions in the last 24 months; no more than 1 suspension in the last 3 years

  • DUI or drug/alcohol-related incidents in a motor vehicle:
  • None will be allowed in the last 4 years
  • One in the last 10 years; 2 in a lifetime
  • Zero in a CMV

Language Skills 

Possess the ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos; to effectively communicate information and interact well with customers. Qualified candidates must be very responsible and detail-oriented. Have tactful interaction with coworkers and customers. Possess an understanding of basic mathematics. 


Reasoning Ability 

Worker has the ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instruction; and to deal with problems that involve a few concrete variables in standardized situations. 


Physical Demands

  • Frequently push/pulling. 
  • Frequently cranks dolly legs on van trailers. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. 
  • This job is considered to be moderate stress level.

Lifting limits are determined by National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health Standards. Occasional means up to 33% of workday. Grip strengths are determined by Mathowitz strength analysis.
