VDOT is seeking an experienced project manager to join the PMO/Governance Team. Must have experience managing and providing leadership and guidance to project teams, in both Waterfall and Agile settings. Project manager candidate must demonstrate understanding of project portfolio, lifecycle management, agile processes, and Governance processes, policies and procedures. Must be familiar with Agile values, principles, processes and methods.
Project manager will provide administration support for VDOT Microsoft Project Online, to help drive the adoption of best practices across project teams. Individual must be self-motivated with strong logic and process improvement skills, to drive change and adoption of the solution in alignment with VDOT Project Management processes. Responsibilities for the Project Online administration will include configuration and alignment with new newly implemented features in Project Online environment; establishing and customizing templates, establishing and customizing required reporting, establishing and updating training materials, deployment planning and support, and solution performance monitoring.
Essential Project Online duties include:
• Manage and monitor Project Online solution
• Train VDOT on Project Online solution and process
• Ensure all Project Online administrators concur with solution and implemented processes
• Setup new and manage Project Online users, in established security groups; based on license tier needed to perform role
• Develop and maintain Project Online templates
• Establish and maintain required reporting
• Assist with planning configuration updates in development, integration, testing and production environments
• Produce release notes to communicate updates being rolled-out into the Project Online environments
• Development of process documentation to support standardization and maturity around the use of the solution, in alignment with software lifecycle and project management lifecycle maturity.
• Production Monitoring - Ability to monitor Project Online environments, including production, for performance and operational issues; work with Microsoft Support to address and validate resolution
• Reporting - Experience in creating and supporting custom reports; gathering requirements to generate the reporting
• Collaboration - Experience collaborating with all levels of IT staff to explain and train on key activities
Candidate must possess the ability to quickly and easily adapt to changing priorities, embrace changes to provide leadership and guidance. Strong interpersonal and communications skills. Strong technical and functional understanding of MS Project, Project Server, SharePoint. Experience with Microsoft Project Server is desired (2016, 2013, or 2010) and knowledge of Office 365 is recommended. Experience with Power BI would be a nice to have.
Required / Desired Skills:
Experience in a diverse team environment (5 years)
Experience with Microsoft Project Server 2010 Administration; must be able to manage/monitor multiple environments (2 years)
Experience with Microsoft Project Server/Online 2013 and/or 2016 (6 months)
Experience in creating and supporting custom reports (1 year)

Self-motivated; ability to work in team and individual environment (4 years)
