Job description

Position Summary
Signal of Central North Carolina is seeking highly professional, dependable, and safety-minded Armed Security Officers to protect client personnel and property in Roxboro, North Carolina. Officers are expected to maintain a strong security presence, exercise sound judgment, respond appropriately to emergencies, and represent Signal with professionalism at all times.

Essential Duties
  • Patrol assigned property on foot and/or by vehicle.
  • Maintain a visible security presence to deter criminal activity.
  • Control access to the property.
  • Monitor surveillance systems and alarms.
  • Complete detailed and accurate incident reports.
  • Respond to emergencies and critical incidents.
  • Coordinate with local law enforcement, EMS, and fire departments when necessary.
  • Enforce client policies and company procedures.
  • Conduct investigations as assigned.
  • Maintain professional appearance and demeanor while on duty.
  • Safely carry and properly secure issued or approved duty firearm.

Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must meet all of the following minimum requirements before being considered for employment:
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Possess or have the ability to obtain a valid North Carolina PPSB Armed Guard Registration.
  • Meet all state and federal requirements for firearm possession and carry.
  • Maintain a clean criminal and employment history consistent with company and PPSB standards.
  • Successfully complete all pre-employment screening requirements.
  • Successfully complete Signal of Central North Carolina's firearms qualification with a minimum score of 90% before any employment offer is extended.

Continuing Employment Standards
To remain employed as an Armed Security Officer, employees must maintain all company armed officer standards, including:
  • Maintain a valid NC PPSB Armed Guard Registration.
  • Successfully re-qualify with every duty firearm twice each year with a minimum score of 90%.
  • Complete required continuing education and mandatory company training.
  • Maintain all required certifications.
  • Comply with all company policies regarding professionalism, appearance, use of force, reporting, and patrol standards.
  • Report any legal changes affecting armed status immediately.

Preferred Qualifications
Preference may be given to applicants with:
  • Prior military or law enforcement experience.
  • Previous armed security experience.
  • CPR/BLS Certification.
  • Active Shooter Response training.
  • De-escalation training.
  • Less-Lethal (Taser or OC Spray) certification.

Physical Requirements
Applicants must be able to:
  • Stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Work overnight in various weather conditions.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Respond quickly during emergencies.
  • Wear required duty gear for the duration of the shift.

Position Summary:

A Signal Armed Security Officer will conduct patrols, (foot and vehicle) for courtyards, offices, pools, and other high value areas to ensure all required access points are properly secured and to ensure protection of property and residents with a high degree of attentiveness to details and safety. Armed Security Officers play a vital role by actively observing their surroundings, positively engaging with customers, associates, and responding to emergency situations. All duties listed below are minimum requirements - additional duties listed in the site's Post Orders are requirements as well.

Responsibilities:

  • Will conduct and deliver various mobile security services while operating company patrol vehicle that reflect the company's values, expectations, and consistent service in alignment with site specific instructions/post orders.
  • Will write detailed and accurate reports utilizing company technology and web or app-based software during each shift that align with site instruction/post orders.
  • The Ability to consistently arrive on time for shifts, clock in and out, meet time commitments, follow instruction, follow dress code and appearance standards and expectations 
  • Interacting with internal and external customers on site cultivating a customer service relationship striving to provide peace of mind.
  • Consistently communicates with the Advanced Patrol Officer and or the Branch Patrol Supervisor to promptly report any customer or property related information and concerns.
  • Will be assigned a vehicle that officer is responsible for during their shift to include fueling, washing, interior cleanliness, and inspecting.
  • Responsible for the care of any Signal equipment assigned during shift including radios, access keys/cards, uniforms, and devices, etc.
  • Manage daily activities while meeting key benchmarks and expectations set by the Branch Patrol Supervisor such as reporting standards and service quality.
  • Consistently deescalate issues through communication in a professional and prompt manner.
  • Communicate with the Branch Patrol Supervisor to receive and disseminate information through Branch Supervisor Daily Scrum, such as the client needs, route changes, and post order updates to ensure operational excellence and efficiency.
