POSITION SUMMARY
As General Manager, you're the driving force behind the hotel's success - responsible for maximizing financial performance while delivering the kind of ridiculously personal experiences Kimpton is known for. You'll cultivate a positive, high-performing culture for your team, build strong relationships with ownership, and ensure every guest leaves with a genuine Kimpton Moment. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives on strategy and execution in equal measure.
CORE RESPONSIBILITES
Financial Performance & Revenue Management
  • Own the financial success of the property, including budgeting, forecasting, yield, and revenue management; develop and execute plans to achieve financial goals.
  • Determine pricing strategy across room inventory and market segments to exceed market-share occupancy at a better-than-market yield ratio.
  • Oversee weekly forecasting and planning of staffing and cost expenditures to align with projected sales and costs; review and approve all operating expenses.
  • Ensure timely, accurate period-end financial statements and reporting, with controls in place for proper handling and accounting of all hotel receipts.
  • Maintain clear visibility into performance against budget at all times, with systems in place to explain operational trends and variances.

Sales & Marketing Strategy
  • Lead development and execution of comprehensive business, sales, and marketing plans to maximize occupancy and average rates.
  • Maintain fair market share by balancing cost and quality standards, profitability, and guest expectations.

Food & Beverage Oversight
  • Oversee all Food and Beverage operations - restaurants, bars, catering, banquets, and in-room dining - ensuring service excellence, cost control, quality assurance, and adherence to health and safety standards.
  • Partner with the Executive Chef and F&B leaders on menu development, promotions, and brand standards.
  • Maintain a strong cross-functional relationship with Marin Restaurant and any on-property spa, working as one team to promote the success of the entire Kimpton property.

Guest Experience & Brand Standards
  • Create an environment that delivers 100% guest satisfaction, overseeing guest satisfaction efforts and resolving escalated concerns.
  • Communicate, promote, and maintain all brand and management group policies, procedures, and standards across the hotel - for both employees and guests.
  • Conduct ongoing evaluations of product and service quality, investigate complaints, and initiate corrective action as needed.

Leadership & Team Development
  • Provide leadership and direction across all departments - including Front Office, Reservations, Guest Services, Housekeeping, Security & Maintenance, Sales & Marketing, Accounting, and People & Culture - with overall responsibility for their coordination and performance.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Build programs that foster a positive work environment for all employees.
  • Control purchases and inventories, and oversee day-to-day operations across the property.

Asset Protection & Compliance
  • Protect and enhance the value of hotel assets through maintenance, security, and housekeeping programs, including the capital budgeting process.
  • Maintain a preventive maintenance program that supports employee and guest safety, orderly operations, strong appearance, and compliance with brand and legislative standards.
  • Ensure hotel policies and procedures - including safety and emergency guidelines - are fully implemented across all departments.

Ownership & Community Relations
  • Build and maintain a strong working relationship with the ownership group, partnering directly with them to strategize and implement projects that support the hotel's growth.
  • Represent the hotel within relevant hospitality, tourism, and business associations, maintaining strong community involvement through networking and local industry engagement.

EXPERIENCE WE'RE SEEKING:
  • Minimum 5 years of hospitality managerial experience, ideally within a full-service hotel environment.
  • Proven leadership, entrepreneurial spirit, and sound decision-making skills, with the ability to inspire, lead, and manage a team by example.
  • Demonstrated success overseeing Food and Beverage operations, including budgeting, service standards, staffing, cost control, and guest satisfaction.
  • A track record in revenue management, consistently exceeding market share and sales targets.
  • Experience developing and executing business, marketing, and sales plans alongside operating budgets, with the ability to convert vision into specific, tangible actions that benefit the property.
  • Strong background in staff management - recruitment, training, coaching, and motivation - with the ability to engage professionally across all levels of the organization.
  • Solid financial planning and organizational skills, with familiarity in accounting principles and the ability to analyze data and translate it into action plans.
  • Strong computer skills, including Word and Excel, along with excellent time management and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both internally with your team and externally with guests, ownership, and the community.
  • A high level of creativity, enthusiasm, and flexibility, with the nimbleness to adapt as the needs of the operation and company evolve.
  • A results-oriented, hands-on leadership style grounded in high ethics and personal accountability - with a genuine passion for coaching, mentoring, and building a team that delivers exceptional guest service.

OUR CULTURE - What It's Like to Work Here
Refreshingly Human.
That's how we describe the Kimpton culture. Not a tagline - a way of being. It's what you'll feel the moment you walk through our doors, and it's what keeps our teams coming back.
Kimpton founder Bill Kimpton believed one thing above all else: hire the right people and get out of the way. From day one, this brand was built on empowerment - giving people the freedom to be creative, take chances, learn from mistakes, and do what's right. That vision sparked something special in 1981, and it still runs through everything we do across 80+ hotels worldwide.
If that sounds like the kind of place you've been looking for - read on.
Be 100% You
If you join us, you won't be asked to leave yourself at the door. Your quirks, your tattoos, your accent, your personal style - all of it is not just welcome here, it's celebrated. Being professional at Kimpton doesn't mean being a clone. It means showing up as your full, authentic self and doing the work with your own flair.
Be the Ultimate Host
At Kimpton, you'll be empowered to act. To be creative. To read the room, anticipate what a guest needs before they ask, and do what you truly believe is right - without waiting for permission. We hire people we trust, and then we trust the people we hire.
Spark Joy
Beyond great service lives something more lasting: emotional impact. Spark Joy is about the moments guests carry with them long after checkout - the ones that make Kimpton feel different from anywhere else. You'll have the power to create those moments every single day.
INCLUSION & BELONGING
A culture this special only works when everyone feels they belong in it. We're committed to building a workplace where every person feels seen, heard, and valued - and where differences aren't just accepted, they're what make us better.
