Description

 Matrix Plastic Products is looking for a motivated, hands-on Apprentice Mold Maker / Toolmaker to join our plastic injection molding team in our brand new Bloomingdale facility. In this role, you'll work alongside experienced mold makers to learn the skills of the trade while assisting in the fabrication, repair, and maintenance of precision molds and mold components used in our manufacturing operations.  As an apprentice, you'll gain valuable, hands-on experience performing essential mold-making tasks, ensuring molds meet strict quality and performance standards through preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair. In addition to on-the-job training, you'll participate in a structured apprenticeship program coordinated through the Technology & Manufacturing Association (TMA), providing classroom instruction and industry-recognized training to support your career growth.

Requirements

Responsibilities will include manufacturing mold components utilizing various shop equipment and mold maintenance/repair. Looking for a candidate with the following skills and experience:

Essential Job Duties:

  • Participate in the repair and maintenance of existing molds, identifying and rectifying defects to ensure proper functionality
  • Frequently move materials and mold components weighing up to 50 pounds across the manufacturing floor and work areas for various needs
  • Constantly operate hand and power tools to prepare, inspect, and position mold materials and components
  • Occasionally position self to work on molds at various heights and in confined spaces
  • Have the ability to communicate information and ideas to supervisors and colleagues regarding the progress and any issues related to mold making. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
  • Have the ability to observe details at close range to inspect mold components for accuracy and defects
  • Detect and identify any deviations from specifications during the mold-making process
  • Adheres to all safety procedures and guidelines in the performance of duties
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area
