Our Client is building a world-class platform to host a wide range of applications. It's a state-of-the-art digital platform that encompasses mobile, web, cloud, and distributed computing systems. Their solutions are designed to improve productivity, profitability, and safety, and help communities and economies grow in an environmentally sustainable way.
The Product Owner works as a member of the team to help maximize the value of the Platform Products and the work of the Engineering Teams. The Product Owner works closely with the Digital Product and Engineering Teams. The Product Owner's primary task is to create and manage the Engineering Product Backlog and ensure everyone understands the priorities. The Product Owner is empowered to make decisions regarding the backlog and is typically the individual closest to the business side of complex projects.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Maximize the value of the product and the work of the Development Team.
  • Act as Product Owner for larger, more complex projects with high value to the organization.
  • Create, maintain, and prioritize the Product Backlog according to business value for the life of the project.
  • Communicate Product Backlog priorities to the teams.
  • Serve as the key decision-maker regarding technical product features.
  • Own and communicate the product vision, ensuring the team understands what is to be built.
  • Assist with elaboration of epics, themes, and features into user stories that are achievable within a single sprint.
  • Convey the vision and goals for complex product features.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders throughout the organization.
  • Make decisions on release dates and release content.
  • Represent the customer by interfacing with and engaging customers as appropriate.
  • Communicate team status externally; act as a point of contact for product progress and backlog priorities.
  • Champion the agile community and help further agile practices within the organization.
Background / Experience
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree (4-year) preferred in computer science, information systems, marketing, communications, engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience as a software developer or Product Owner.
  • 5+ years of experience leading a technical team while simultaneously managing multiple projects.
  • 3+ years of experience working with Agile methodology.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate appropriately to ensure a team's success.
  • Experience working with enterprise-class software solutions (B-to-C experience a plus).
  • Strong accountability, planning/organization, and teamwork skills.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills to handle sensitive, emotional, or potentially controversial situations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience managing projects using Agile software tools (e.g., Mingle, VSTS, JIRA, Team Services, Rally, Azure DevOps/ADO).
  • Experience working with an onshore/offshore team model.
  • Demonstrated ability to empower teams.
  • Strong accountability, teamwork, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and demonstrated experience applying SDLC within project/program delivery.
  • Master's degree and/or hands-on development experience; 3-5 years of related experience.
