Job description

WHO WE ARE
Mojo Supermarket is a fully integrated agency built on the creative philosophy "Break your brain good." In an age of disposable content, we are focused on making work that is both meaningful and lasting; ideas that rewire the way the world thinks. We exist to take on high-stakes business challenges and deliver exponential return. We currently do this for brands like TikTok, Burger King, Doordash, Ruggable, Chase and more.
THE ROLE
The Product & Technology Lead will own the design, development, delivery, and adoption of Mojo's internal and client-facing technology products.
You will be a hands-on product leader who can understand a messy business problem, determine whether technology should solve it, shape the right product, and lead a distributed team through building and launching it.
You should understand advertising and creative businesses well enough to recognize their realities, but not be limited by how agencies have historically operated. We want someone who questions existing processes, has strong product opinions, and can introduce better ways of working.
You will partner with Mojo's leadership, creatives, strategists, producers, operators, and clients, while working closely with our technical builders in Pakistan to turn ideas into reliable products.
WHAT YOU WILL OWN
Product Strategy and Judgment
  • Understand problems across Mojo's operations, creative workflows, client work, staffing, production, listening, finance, and people systems
  • Determine which problems should be solved through custom software, AI, automation, integrations, process changes, or existing tools
  • Turn ambiguous opportunities into focused product concepts, roadmaps, requirements, prototypes, and release plans
  • Decide what Mojo should build, buy, integrate, simplify, or stop
  • Bring strong, independent opinions and challenge requests that do not lead to valuable products
  • Maintain a coherent product portfolio rather than allowing disconnected experiments to accumulate
Product Development
  • Lead products from discovery and definition through design, development, testing, launch, adoption, and iteration
  • Translate business, creative, and client needs into clear workflows and technical requirements
  • Create wireframes, user journeys, process maps, product briefs, and acceptance criteria
  • Prioritize the roadmap and maintain a focused development backlog
  • Run regular product and development cycles with clear ownership, deadlines, and decisions
  • Test products directly with employees and clients before expanding them
  • Ensure products are useful, intuitive, documented, secure, and maintainable
Technical Leadership
  • Lead and develop Mojo's distributed technical team, including developers, automation specialists, AI builders, and external partners
  • Evaluate technical approaches, architecture, APIs, databases, AI models, integrations, permissions, and security considerations
  • Break large ideas into realistic, testable releases
  • Identify technical risks early and prevent the development of fragile or unnecessarily complicated systems
  • Hold technical partners accountable for quality, documentation, reliability, and delivery
  • Establish practical development and product-management standards appropriate for a fast-moving creative agency
Internal and Client-Facing Innovation
  • Build systems that improve how Mojo staff work, manage talent, develop creative, listen to culture, monitor performance, operate accounts, and understand financial performance
  • Identify opportunities to turn Mojo's internal capabilities into differentiated client offerings
  • Participate in selected client conversations to understand business problems and shape technology-enabled solutions
  • Help Mojo use technology to create better work and deliver better results, not simply to make existing processes more efficient
  • Connect product decisions to measurable business and client outcomes

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
Within the First 90 Days
  • Meet key stakeholders across creative, strategy, operations, account, and leadership teams
  • Understand current pain points and immediate opportunities through direct conversations
  • Establish working relationship and rhythm with the remote product and technical team
  • Assess existing tools and workflows
  • Begin building: Ship first meaningful product improvement or define first focused build with the technical team
  • Propose clear priorities for the initial roadmap
Within the First Year
  • Established a clear, prioritized roadmap across Mojo's product portfolio
  • Taken day-to-day product and technical leadership off senior leadership's plate
  • Launched a small number of focused products that employees or clients consistently use
  • Improved the quality, speed, and reliability of product development
  • Reduced the number of disconnected tools, unfinished experiments, and poorly defined builds
  • Demonstrated measurable improvements in time saved, quality of work, output, margin visibility, team effectiveness, or client value
  • Built trust across creative, strategy, operations, and leadership teams

This might be right for you if
You will likely have approximately 5-9 years of relevant experience, although we care more about the quality of what you have built than the number of years on your résumé.
Strong candidates may come from:
  • Product development within a creative, advertising, social, media, production, or marketing organization
  • A marketing technology, creator technology, social intelligence, cultural intelligence, or workflow software company
  • A creative technology or product innovation team where they owned real products, not only campaign prototypes
  • A startup or venture where they helped build and launch products for creatives with a small distributed team
  • A technical product role serving creative, marketing, operations, or professional-services teams

This might not be right for you if
  • You prefer receiving complete requirements rather than helping define the product
  • Your experience is primarily coordinating projects and tracking deadlines
  • You are focused mainly on IT infrastructure, devices, help desks, or enterprise systems
  • You enjoy developing innovation concepts but do not want accountability for implementation and adoption
  • You need a large engineering, design, and product organization around you to make progress
  • You believe every business request should become a software feature
  • You are uncomfortable challenging senior stakeholders when the proposed solution is wrong
  • You need perfect requirements before starting, rather than helping shape the direction through ambiguity

HOW THIS ROLE WORKS WITH LEADERSHIP
The Head of Strategic Initiatives & Innovation will help identify important business and client opportunities, connect the role with agency leadership, and define the outcomes Mojo needs.
The Product & Technology Lead will independently assess those opportunities, determine the right product approach, lead the technical team, and own delivery and adoption.
This person will not simply translate leadership ideas into development tickets. We expect them to challenge assumptions, improve the thinking, and be accountable for whether the final product works.
This is an opportunity to shape Mojo's product strategy from the ground up, building tools that directly influence how world-class creative work gets made and how we deliver value for clients including TikTok, Burger King, DoorDash, Ruggable, and Chase. You will have meaningful ownership over product decisions and technical direction, with direct access to agency leadership and the freedom to challenge existing ways of working.
This person will not simply translate leadership ideas into development tickets. We expect them to challenge assumptions, improve the thinking, and be accountable for whether the final product works. They will operate with significant autonomy, without unnecessary layers of approval, while staying closely connected to the agency teams and stakeholders who will ultimately use what they build.
Requirements
WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING
Required
  • Strong product judgment and clear opinions about what makes a useful product
  • A demonstrated ability to take products from an unclear problem through launch and adoption
  • Enough understanding of advertising and creative businesses to work effectively with creatives, strategists, producers, account leaders, and clients
  • Technical depth sufficient to lead developers and evaluate architecture, integrations, APIs, data structures, AI tools, and security decisions
  • The ability to communicate clearly with both highly technical and nontechnical teams
  • Experience leading distributed developers, contractors, or product teams
  • Comfort working without a large product organization, engineering department, or established playbook
  • Strong prioritization skills and a willingness to say no
  • A bias toward shipping focused versions, learning from actual users, and improving quickly
  • Curiosity about AI and emerging technologies without chasing technology for its own sake
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding that products must ultimately improve the business or create meaningful client value

Working Model: This is a New York City-based hybrid role, with an expectation of working from Mojo's Chinatown office three to four days per week. The Product & Technology Lead will collaborate closely with agency leadership and cross-functional teams in person while managing a distributed technical team.
Benefits
  • Competitive salary
  • 401(k) with up to a 4% company match
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Flexible paid time off
  • Paid parental leave
  • Culture & wellness Stipend
  • Five-week paid sabbatical for employees with five years of service
  • Twice monthly team meals
  • Pre-tax commuter benefits
