JOB SUMMARY:
The Lead Quality Control Inspector is responsible for providing supervisory functions for the QC personnel to meet the daily support requirements for products in production.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Oversee all the inspection processes.
• Trains QC inspectors on their daily tasks and how to use the test instruments.
• Facilitates the Safety meeting for the inspection team.
• With the approval of the Quality Manager, manages the inspector's time off requests and makes sure that each production area is always covered with an inspector.
• Fills in on the shop floor where needed for inspections and acts as a fill in when an inspector calls in.
• Serves as the escort for any outside inspectors that may visit the facility.
• Performs audits of checklists completed by the QC inspector for completeness and accuracy.
• Perform daily scheduling of quality control inspectors to support production and shipping schedules.
• Helps coach each QC inspector to perform their duty to the best of their ability
QUALIFICATIONS:
Work Experience: 2+ years of providing quality assurance and quality control on projects
Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Related Experience:
• General Mathematical skills
• Level II Weld Inspection certifications for MT and VT desired
• Knowledge and experience with manufacturing inspection processes
• Effective communication skills both written and verbal.
• Self-motivated and works well with or without supervision.
• Good organizational skills and a methodical approach to work.
• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
• Detailed oriented, able to read and interpret drawings, BOMs, options, shop details, etc.
• Must have a good attendance record and have a strong sense of personal responsibility.
• Personal computer skills required.
• Must be able to pass a drug test and background check
• Ability to work safely
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee sometimes works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to excessive noise, extreme heat, extreme cold, and heights. When participating in activities on the shop floor, the noise level in the work environment is typical for a fabrication shop and ear plugs may be used as necessary.
