Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled Maximo Application Suite (MAS) Solution Design Engineer to support NASA’s Office of Strategic Infrastructure (OSI) through full lifecycle systems engineering, project management, and solution design in accordance with NASA’s IT Project Management policies. This engineer will design, develop, architect, and configure the Enterprise MAS platform across development, test, stage, and production environments. The role requires exceptional communication skills and demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-organizational leadership, technical teams, vendors, center stakeholders, and IT personnel.

This individual will document and review system designs in alignment with NASA engineering practices and participate in formal reviews as designated by the NASA Technical Point of Contact (TPOC). This role requires 8+ years of hands-on Maximo/Maximo Application Suite (MAS) experience. Candidate must be able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance. *Must be within 50 miles of a NASA Center*

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary functional point of contact for MAS user support, business process optimization, and configuration management
  • Act as liaison between business stakeholders, field users, IT teams, and vendors to ensure alignment with operational and maintenance needs
  • Monitor and resolve system issues, data inconsistencies, and user access challenges
  • Analyze workflows, data collection processes, and business operations across key MAS modules (Work Orders, PM/CM, Asset Management)
  • Identify opportunities for modernization, optimization, and standardization across the enterprise
  • Maintain system configurations, lookup tables, and workflow logic
  • Support migration of manual or paper-based processes to modern, mobile-enabled MAS solutions
  • Gather and translate requirements into business requirements documents, user stories, process maps, and configuration specifications
  • Collaborate with developers, architects, and integration teams to deliver effective solutions
  • Lead standardization of business and technical requirements across NASA centers
  • Implement release management practices including version control, testing, and promotion across environments
  • Participate in system testing, user validation, and change management activities
  • Support system performance troubleshooting and technical escalations
  • Provide engineering support for Red Hat OpenShift-based MAS environments
  • Manage system requirements, infrastructure updates, and evolving workload demands
  • Ensure compliance with reliability, maintainability, and availability standards
  • Install, integrate, validate, and document MAS components and services
  • Support system verification testing and customer acceptance activities
  • Coordinate with NASA stakeholders to gather interface requirements and communicate progress
  • Support hybrid integration environments (on-premise and cloud), including API and middleware solutions
  • Troubleshoot enterprise data discrepancies and integration issues
  • Build and maintain API integrations ensuring data integrity across systems

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience with Maximo / Maximo Application Suite (MAS)
  • Proven experience in solution design, configuration, and workflow optimization
  • Strong experience gathering and translating functional requirements into technical specifications
  • Experience with MAS modules including Work Orders, PM/CM, and Asset Management
  • Experience supporting mobile-enabled workflows and modernization initiatives
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting NASA or federal Maximo deployments
  • Familiarity with NASA systems engineering and project management standards (NPR 7120.7A)
  • Experience with Red Hat OpenShift or containerized MAS environments
  • Experience with Maximo Mobile and related tools
  • Experience with system integrations, APIs, or middleware platforms
  • Experience supporting enterprise standardization across multiple locations or centers
