Role Overview
The Yard Inventory Specialist plays a critical role in supporting production and project success by managing the flow, tracking, storage, and organization of materials, components, and assemblies throughout the modular construction yard. This position ensures inventory accuracy, supports production schedules, coordinates receiving and shipping activities, and maintains an organized, efficient yard environment. Working closely with production, purchasing, and project teams, the Yard Inventory Specialist helps ensure materials are available when needed while maintaining accurate inventory records and safe operating practices.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain accurate inventory records for raw materials, purchased components, work-in-process (WIP), and finished assemblies, ensuring inventory is properly tracked by project and location.
Receive, inspect, verify, label, and store incoming materials while resolving discrepancies with vendors and internal stakeholders.
Maintain organized storage areas and track the physical location of materials, components, assemblies, and finished products throughout the yard.
Coordinate the movement, storage, and shipment of materials, assemblies, and finished products while maintaining accurate documentation and records.
Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to improve inventory accuracy, material flow, yard organization, and operational efficiency.
Qualifications
Required
Minimum 1 year of experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, logistics, or construction materials management.
Ability to read and interpret bills of materials (BOMs), packing slips, bills of lading (BOLs), and project documentation.
Preferred
Experience in modular construction, manufacturing, prefabrication, or industrial assembly environments.
