HTRI seeks someone to design, develop, maintain, and enhance HTRI engineering software. Maintain calculation methods evolving from ongoing HTRI research
Principal responsibilities
  • Identify potential short- and long-range software development projects and prepare project specifications. Draft schedules for assigned projects.
  • Develop new correlations and design methods in heat transfer technology using test data and/or analytical models.
  • Design, architect, develop, modify, and enhance software. Identify, track, and resolve programming bugs; develop and document workarounds for end-users.
  • Use engineering expertise to devise how to implement engineering methods into software modules; implement methods.
  • Write operating instructions and end-user program documentation, including online help; program, test, and modify code.
  • Develop, review, and implement quality control packages.
  • Perform on-going quality assurance testing, including pre-release testing.
  • Document all modifications to software code and user interfaces.
  • Provide input for responding to technical inquiries related to software.
  • Author HTRI newsletter articles; make presentations at HTRI Global Conference and other technical conferences.
  • Develop and present workshops.
  • Develop customized software under contract to meet engineering objectives.
  • May serve as a liaison to an HTRI Task Force (a working group of members who are industrial experts and are chartered to address a specific research or industry problem) or as a liaison to consultants and/or professional organizations with whom HTRI collaborates.
  • Provide technical guidance on advanced engineering and/or software development issues.

Qualifications
  • PhD, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering and fifteen years of advanced engineering software development experience
  • Proven record of success in leading engineering software projects for ten years
  • Mastery of C/C++, object modeling, and VB technology; knowledge of FORTRAN
  • Advanced knowledge of Xchanger Suite and UniSim Heat Exchangers product line
