Job Summary
Adecco Permanent Recruitment is partnering with a well-established Engineering Consulting Firm to help hire a Mechanical Project Manager.
This opportunity is ideal for an experienced Mechanical Project Manager/Engineer who enjoys balancing technical design with project leadership. You'll lead complex building systems projects from proposal through construction while serving as the primary client contact, managing multidisciplinary teams, and remaining actively involved in engineering design. Projects span healthcare, higher education, life sciences, industrial, commercial, and institutional facilities with a strong focus on existing buildings, infrastructure modernization, and energy-efficient solutions.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead mechanical engineering projects from proposal through construction administration.
  • Serve as the primary client contact while managing projects including scope, design, schedule, budgets, and overall execution.
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams and subconsultants to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Design and oversee HVAC and Central Utility Systems including Laboratory HVAC, Boiler plants, Central Chiller Plants, Cogeneration, Hydronic, Steam, and other complex mechanical building systems.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, specifications, technical reports, and construction documents.
  • Provide technical leadership throughout the design process while mentoring junior engineers.
  • Support business development, proposals and fee estimates, and client relationship management.
  • Drive high-quality engineering solutions while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications and Must-Haves
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of mechanical consulting engineering experience.
  • Experience managing engineering projects from concept through construction.
  • Strong client-facing communication and project leadership skills.
  • Experience with existing buildings, renovations, infrastructure upgrades, and modernization projects.
  • Strong mechanical design experience with central utility systems, including chiller plants, boiler plants, steam systems, laboratory HVAC, energy recovery systems, or large hydronic systems.
  • Proficiency with Revit and familiarity with collaborative BIM workflows.
  • Experience with TRACE or similar HVAC load calculation software.
  • Solid understanding of building and energy codes.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred but not required. Candidates with an EIT or plans to pursue licensure are encouraged to apply.
