The Opportunity:
Tetra Tech is seeking an experienced wastewater collection systems modeler to support and lead hydraulic modeling and planning efforts for municipal infrastructure projects nationwide. In this role, you'll apply advanced modeling expertise, collaborate with national technical leaders, mentor junior staff, and contribute to innovative solutions addressing wet weather, conveyance, and system capacity challenges.

Your Role:
  • Lead wastewater collection system hydraulic modeling and planning projects for municipal clients across the United States.
  • Serve as a technical lead for wet weather hydraulic modeling efforts involving sanitary sewer and combined sewer systems, including capacity assessments, system evaluations, and master planning studies.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineering staff and support collaboration across multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Coordinate with project managers, technical experts, and clients to support successful project execution, technical delivery, and client communication.
  • Prepare, develop, and review hydraulic models, technical calculations, analyses, and reports in accordance with Tetra Tech and client standards.
  • Communicate technical findings and recommendations effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Support hydraulic modeling, planning, and design efforts related to wastewater, drinking water, stormwater, open channel, and conveyance infrastructure projects.
  • Utilize hydraulic modeling software such as InfoWorks ICM, PCSWMM, SewerGEMS, AquaTwin Sewer, MIKE+, or similar platforms to support technical analyses and planning efforts.
  • Assist with proposal development activities including scopes of work, schedules, level-of-effort estimates, and participation in client interviews.
  • Support staffing coordination, recruiting efforts, and technical growth initiatives within the hydraulic modeling practice.
  • Contribute to innovation initiatives, technical working groups, internal knowledge sharing, and industry engagement opportunities including conference presentations and abstract submissions.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or related Engineering field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or ability to obtain through reciprocity.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in wastewater collection system hydraulic modeling and planning.
  • Strong experience with wet weather modeling and analysis for sanitary sewer and combined sewer systems.
  • Proficiency with hydraulic modeling software such as InfoWorks ICM, PCSWMM, SewerGEMS, AquaTwin Sewer, MIKE+, or similar modeling platforms.
  • Experience preparing technical reports, hydraulic analyses, and engineering documentation for municipal infrastructure projects.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively to clients, project teams, and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting multidisciplinary infrastructure projects involving wastewater, stormwater, drinking water, or conveyance systems.
  • Experience coordinating with clients, project managers, and technical teams in a consulting environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and support project delivery schedules.
