Job description

This opening is an assignment within the Design Office Fabrication Shop located at the Stellantis Headquarters located in Auburn Hills, Michigan. It involves interfacing with multiple disciplines, i.e., engineers, designers, and cross-function team members while participating in all fabrication related activities and assignments.
Such activities include but are not limited to developing interior and exterior bucks/armatures according to electronic CAD data, on a surface plate with a full understanding of the x, y and z grid system. The ability to execute structural carpentry, prepping and surfacing hard models and parts (new, aftermarket and prototype) for show quality paints and other finishes. Adapting new and aftermarket parts to existing / prototype vehicles. An understanding of auto mechanics. A full skill set for the application of paints and other show finishes.
Basic Qualifications:
  • HS Diploma/GED
  • 5+ years of experience using shop/mill room stationary machinery such as a Table saw, Joiner, Planer, Drill Press Bridgeport, Press Brake, Shear, Lathe
  • Prior welding experience (steel and aluminum)
  • Ability to work with hand tools such as a Drill motor, Jig Saw, Reciprocating Saw, Circular Saw, Die Grinder, Orbital Sander
  • Strong skills in automotive surfacing and paint application
  • Ability to work both individually and as a team member in a creative and diverse environment
  • Participate in additional training and process improvements
  • Willingness to be mentored and mentor others
  • Participate in scheduled overtime
  • A positive attitude that is not averse to change in a fast paced environment
  • High level of understanding with regards to working from prints and/or CAD models
  • Ability to work with precision while maintaining the highest level of craftsmanship
