Job description

Description:

Alberta Health Services (AHS), Department of Rural Medicine, Calgary Corridor, and the High River Maternity Clinic are inviting applications from physicians with an interest/background in obstetrics to join the low-risk obstetrical team at the High River General Hospital.

As a member of the High River Maternity Clinic, you are expected to provide maternity care in the prenatal clinic as well as on-call for labour and delivery.  The model is a shared care, integrative model with maternity care provided by both family physicians and midwives.  High River General Hospital is a Level 1 hospital, with obstetricians acting as consultants and providing C-Section coverage.  Epidural and anesthesia services are provided by GP anesthetists. 

The successful candidate will have an expressed interest in low-risk maternity care and be committed to working collaboratively and collegially with the members of the team, as well as nursing and other allied health professionals on the labour and delivery unit.

Start date is June 2026.  The successful applicant will be required to work a minimum of 12 shifts per year, with additional shifts available.

The candidate must be eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
