Job description

General Job Description:
Delivery of Model Dairy products to restaurants, convenience stores, grocery outlets, public facilities and a variety of other customers via light truck, van or semi-tractor trailer. Some responsibility for order picking and loading of truck.
Essential Functions:
  • Approaching work with a Continuous Improvement (CI) mindset, and engaging in the company Mission Statement to identify, value, prioritize, resource and sustain improvement opportunities.
  • Owning and promoting a Safety Culture by ensuring a safe work environment and promoting proper safety behavior.
  • Interface with customers in a friendly professional manner delivering superior customer service
  • Delivery of Model Dairy products via light truck, van or semi-tractor/ trailer on an established route schedule according to company policies and procedures and Federal/ State DOT regulations.
  • Establish and monitor customer par levels to maintain a high level of customer service and minimize shortages and return of product due to outdating. Present new products if appropriate.
  • Develop and prepare information to direct the loading of the delivery vehicle to meet the particular requirements of the day's route.
  • Pick products and load delivery vehicles as required.
  • Input, access and retrieve information from computer. Operate a portable computer printer.
  • Greet customers on route in a friendly, courteous manner, and present debit or credit invoices.
  • Off-load orders from delivery vehicle, rotate customer's Model Dairy inventory, load new products into storage area, as directed by customer and remove out-of-date or damaged product.
  • Remove empty cases from customer's premises.
  • Inventory and otherwise account for all product and empty cases remaining in delivery vehicle.
  • At assigned Model Dairy base, clean, fuel and park vehicle.
  • Check in and out with distribution manager according to company policies and procedures, including the prompt completion and submission of all required paperwork.
  • Must wear a uniform provided by Model Dairy and be clean and neat in appearance
  • Maintain a safe work environment.

Mandatory Job Requirements:
To be eligible for this position, an individual must possess the following requirements to perform the essential job functions:
  • Must be able to acquire a Commercial Driver's License and be able to produce a Driving record acceptable to the company's insurance carrier.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and interact positively with a variety of Personality types. Must present oneself in a patient, tolerant and controlled manner.
  • Must maintain a clean, neat appearance and comply with the uniform code of Model Dairy.
  • Ability to accurately key enter data into the computer and produce debit and credit Invoices.
  • Must possess basic mathematic skills.
  • Must possess basic reading skills.
  • Must possess the following speech, vision and auditory characteristics:

  • Preferred 2 years of commercial driving experience.
  • Speech is required to clearly communicate to answer customer inquiries.
  • Smell is required to test product quality and to observe a safety hazard such as a fuel leak.
  • Touch is required to test refrigeration equipment.
    • Must be able to work a shift of 8 or 10 consecutive hours (with a ยฝ hour lunch break) and overtime as required by business demands.
    • Must be able to contribute to a safe work environment.
