Automation Assembly Technician


Up to $40.00/Hour + Overtime • Pewaukee, WI Area • 1st Shift


  • Pay: $30.00–$40.00/hour based on experience, plus overtime
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday | 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
  • Travel: Approximately 5% (primarily Southeastern Wisconsin)
  • Location: 100% onsite in the Pewaukee area
  • Experience: 5+ years building custom machinery from the ground up (2+ years for experienced Toolmakers or Precision Fixture Builders)
  • Work Authorization: U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder


We're looking for an experienced Automation Assembly Technician to join a well-established custom automation company that designs and builds one-of-a-kind automated manufacturing systems for customers around the world.

This is not a repetitive production or bench assembly position. Every machine is custom built, giving you the opportunity to assemble complete automation systems from the ground up while working alongside engineers and electricians in a highly collaborative, 25-person shop. The opening is due to a planned retirement, making it an excellent long-term opportunity with a stable, growing company.


What You'll Do

  • Build custom automation equipment, robotic cells, packaging machinery, assembly systems, and material handling equipment from the frame up
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, assembly prints, and pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical schematics
  • Use Autodesk Inventor 3D models to verify fit, clearances, and assembly details
  • Install and route pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical components
  • Align, shim, and fine-tune precision mechanical assemblies
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues alongside the engineering team
  • Prepare completed equipment for shipment and installation
  • Mentor less experienced technicians as needed

What We're Looking For

  • Experience building custom automated machinery or special machines from the ground up
  • Strong blueprint and schematic reading skills
  • Experience with hand and power tools, precision measuring equipment, and machine shop equipment
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with engineering and electrical teams
  • Stable work history demonstrating reliability and technical growth
