Job description

Design West Technologies Inc. of Tustin, CA has an immediate need for a full-time CNC Setup Machinist. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, troubleshooting, and optimizing CNC machining centers, primarily 5-Axis Mori Seiki and Mori Seiki Horizontal machines. ABOUT DESIGN WEST TECHNOLOGIES INC.

Founded in 1994, DWT is a nontraditional defense contractor with the expertise and technical capabilities to design new systems or develop and implement enhancements to existing products through comprehensive testing and analysis. Vertically integrated from R&D to final assembly and testing, we offer a unique combination of electrical, chemical, and mechanical product development for weapons and CBRN systems with CNC machining, injection molding, robotic welding, assembly, design, testing, and engineering capabilities.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Set up and operate 5-axis Mori Seiki machining centers.
  • Set up and operate Mori Seiki horizontal machining centers.
  • Interpret blueprints, GD&T, and process sheets as well as install fixtures, tooling and probes.
  • Conduct first article inspections and in-process inspections.
  • Perform tool touch-offs and offsets.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and make program adjustments as needed.
  • Work closely with programmers and production team to improve cycle time.
  • Follow all safety and quality procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum 3+ year experience in CNC setup experience with Mori Seiki machines (5-axis preferred) & Horizontal machining experience required.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings required
  • Working knowledge of GD&T Methodology and experience tight tolerance parts and experience with precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, etc.).
  • CNC lath setup experience is a plus
  • Familiarity with Fanuc or Mori control systems.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
