QA Test Analyst - Manual & Automation
Location: Hartford, CT
We are seeking an experienced QA Test Analyst with strong hands-on experience in both manual and automation testing to support complex, mission-critical enterprise applications. The role involves testing across Salesforce, Java-based applications, Mobile/PWA applications, APIs, web services, backend databases, and integrated enterprise systems. Candidates should also have a strong understanding of test automation frameworks, API and web service testing, Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM), defect lifecycle management, test planning, test strategy, and test estimation.
Required Qualifications
  • Five (5) or more years of Quality Assurance experience testing large, complex enterprise applications, with strong hands-on experience in both manual and automation testing.
  • Strong understanding of QA methodologies, SDLC, testing processes, defect lifecycle management, test planning, test strategy, test estimation, and requirements traceability.
  • Hands-on experience developing and executing automated test scripts using Selenium, TestNG, and Java, or comparable automation frameworks.
  • Experience with REST API testing, SOAP Web Services, Postman, JSON/XML validation, and SQL-based backend data validation.
  • Experience interpreting business requirements, user stories, functional specifications, and technical documentation and converting them into comprehensive test scenarios and test cases.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, requirements walkthroughs, release planning, and defect triage.
  • Experience using Jira for defect tracking and Agile project management.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.
Key Responsibilities

  • Review business requirements, user stories, functional specifications, technical documentation, and design documents to identify test coverage and potential gaps.
  • Execute functional, regression, integration, system integration, API, backend, and end-to-end testing.
  • Develop and maintain automated tests using approved automation frameworks and continuously improve automation coverage where appropriate.
  • Validate REST APIs, SOAP Web Services, interfaces, and integrations between internal and external systems, including JSON/XML response validation.
  • Perform backend database validation using SQL to verify application data, business rules, interfaces, and processing results.
  • Participate in requirements walkthroughs, sprint planning, backlog refinement, design reviews, release planning, and other Agile ceremonies.
  • Estimate QA effort and provide input into project plans, sprint commitments, release schedules, and testing timelines.
  • Identify, document, prioritize, track, and manage defects through resolution, participate in defect triage, and verify software fixes.
  • Maintain traceability between business requirements, test cases, test execution, and defects through the Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM).
  • Document test execution results, testing status, risks, defects, and quality issues and communicate them clearly to project leadership and stakeholders.
  • Support production implementations through release validation and post-production verification.
  • Collaborate with developers, business analysts, architects, project managers, vendors, and business stakeholders to resolve quality issues and ensure requirements are correctly implemented.
  • Contribute to improvements in QA standards, automation frameworks, testing processes, and quality best practices, and mentor junior testers when appropriate.
