Job description

Hybrid role based in Kitchener

The Senior UX Designer shapes the user experience across Sonova's ecosystem, by identifying design opportunities and crafting design concepts that deliver exceptional experiences across all touchpoints of the hearing care journey.

Working closely with the Experience Design team in Stafa and Warsaw, and collaborating across Design, R&D, and Brand, the role brings together state-of-the-art tools and methodologies to design solutions that are simple, intuitive, and delightful, ensuring that every interaction is accessible, usable, and meaningful. 

Responsibilities:

  • Craft compelling design concepts by distilling complex problems and insights into clear, elegant solutions - from early ideation through to validated concepts and developer handover.
  • Apply UCD and design thinking methods across the full process: wireframes, prototypes, storyboards, user flows, and journey maps.
  • Contribute to Design Guidelines, design metrics, and success criteria at the Experience Design group level.
  • Lead or participate in user research and evaluation at the appropriate stage, in close collaboration with the UX Research team.
  • Own defined areas of the end-to-end experience. Collaborate with Design, PMs, and R&D to ensure seamless integration across the Sonova ecosystem.
  • Support junior designers and contribute to a culture of quality and craft within the team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in UX Design, Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience designing digital products for web and mobile platforms (iOS and Android)
  • Expert knowledge of user-centered design, UX research, and hypothesis-driven design methodologies
  • Advanced proficiency with Figma and modern prototyping tools; experience with Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-informed approach to design decisions
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders across functions and levels
  • Self-motivated, organized, and highly effective in fast-paced, complex environments
  • Passion for innovation, continuous improvement, and leveraging AI-powered design tools
  • Experience mentoring designers and promoting design quality and best practices
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing medical, healthcare, or other regulated digital products
  • Familiarity with medical device compliance requirements, design systems, and design token workflows
  • Understanding of hearing technology, audiology, or related healthcare domains
  • Experience in a senior or lead UX design role
  • Additional language skills, including German, are a plus

A minimum of 200Mb/sec download and 10Mb/sec upload speed internet connectivity is required to support any remote/hybrid employee functionality at Sonova

This role's pay range is between: $91,200 - $114,000 annually. This role is also bonus eligible.
