Job description

TransCore (TRN), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is seeking a talented Sr. Software Test Engineer, Mobile Automation to join our shared Software QA Automation team in Round Rock, Texas.

Summary

The Sr. Mobile Test Automation Engineer will focus on automation coverage for the Smart Mobility platform. This role will primarily own native iOS and Android mobile test automation, including framework development, mobile regression coverage, device-cloud execution, CI/CD integration, and mobile quality reporting. The engineer will validate key Smart Mobility workflows across mobile applications, backend services, cloud services, and downstream transaction systems.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable automation frameworks for native Android and iOS applications.
  • Build reusable automation components, utilities, reporting, test data handling, and execution standards.
  • Automate sanity, functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end mobile test scenarios.
  • Perform testing across real devices, emulators/simulators, OS versions, and cloud device platforms.
  • Analyze automation failures, troubleshoot flaky tests, and continuously improve framework reliability.
  • Ensure mobile apps meet expectations for functionality, usability, reliability, security, and performance.
  • Coordinate with DevOps engineers to integrate mobile smoke, regression, and end-to-end automation suites into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming, requirements reviews, and design discussions to identify mobile quality risks early.
  • Support shift-left testing, automation-first delivery, and Test-Driven Development practices.
  • Create dashboards, automation execution reports, and mobile quality metrics for release readiness.
  • Track mobile automation coverage, pass/fail trends, flaky tests, defect leakage, and release risks.
  • Support defect triage, bug fix validation, targeted regression testing, and release sign-off activities.

Requirements and Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering or related field required.
  • 8-12 years of QA experience, with strong automation engineering background.
  • 5+ years of hands-on mobile testing experience across iOS and Android.
  • Strong experience building and maintaining mobile automation frameworks from scratch.
  • Hands-on experience with mobile automation tools such as Appium, Espresso, XCUITest, Maestro, or similar tools.
  • Experience testing native, hybrid, and mobile web applications.
  • Experience with device cloud platforms such as BrowserStack, SauceLabs, LambdaTest, or similar.
  • Programming experience in Java, Kotlin, Swift, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, or C#.
  • Strong knowledge of Git, CI/CD, Agile/Scrum practices, debugging, troubleshooting, and automation best practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Playwright test automation for Web UI and API testing.
  • Experience testing tolling, transportation, SaaS, payment, or transaction-based systems.
  • Experience with performance tools such as JMeter, k6, Gatling, Locust, or similar.
  • Exposure to observability, logs, metrics, tracing, crash analytics, mobile performance monitoring, security, and application resiliency.
  • Experience using approved AI-assisted engineering tools responsibly for test acceleration, troubleshooting, and automation productivity.
