Job Description
Job Summary
Performs a variety of work connected with the operations, inspections, and maintenance of combustion turbine sites. Performs varied mechanical, basic electrical and basic control and instrument maintenance activities and other duties necessary to maintain the generation facilities. This role is open at our Sheboygan Falls Generating Station in Plymouth, WI. As our generation increases in solar, we anticipate additional support from our Simple Cycle power plants.
This is a bargaining position and is designated as a "Project Position." As such, there is a point where the project will end (up to 30 months approximately). At the end of this project, you will have return rights or can stay in the position if it becomes a regular option.
This position works the evening schedule from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
What you will do
  • Performs combustion turbine operations, inspections, and maintenance in a safe and efficient manner adhering to all corporate and company guidelines to ensure compliance with all city, state, and federal regulations.
  • Participates in job safety briefings, safety tailgate sessions, safety reviews and safety observations.
  • Observes, operates and initiates repairs to the combustion turbine and related equipment.
  • Maintains an accurate operating log of all equipment and performs preventive maintenance to sustain equipment availability and reliability.
  • Performs and documents routine inspections and maintenance of the site, combustion turbines, and related equipment utilizing Maximo and predictive and preventive maintenance processes and procedures.
  • Performs and documents routine inspections of the site, combustion turbines and related equipment, and collects and retains necessary data to support regulatory permit requirements and reporting.
  • Calibrates and repairs recording and indicating instrumentation.
  • Welds with a fair skill to produce safe and reliable repairs and construction.
  • Maintains performance monitoring and control equipment. Monitors gas and steam turbine performance. Keeps testing records as assigned.
  • Participates in the performance of warehouse activities, ordering supplies as needed, and supports inventory activities.
  • Performs and participates in regular inspections, overhauls and maintenance of all related plant equipment.
  • Maintains, operates and repairs water treatment systems. Receives and unloads acid, caustic and other chemicals needed for the operation of the facility. Troubleshoots and repairs the water treatment system controls and valves. Maintains optimum water treatment system performance.
  • Performs tests and reports data on water treatment systems.
  • Operates mobile and heavy equipment to perform maintenance tasks.
  • Supports safety, plant reliability, productivity, and plant efficiency improvements by participating in various continuous improvement activities.
  • Performs all work according to established procedures and safety practices.
  • Performs various generating plant and shop area housekeeping functions.
  • Works closely with contractors on troubleshooting, repairing and/or installing equipment.
  • Performs other duties which are similar, related or incidental to this position.
  • Supports operation and maintenance activities at other generating facilities as needed.

Education Requirements
  • Associate Degree Electrical, mechanical or instrument and control technical college Required

Required Experience
  • 4 years' experience in any one or a combination of the electrical, or instrument and control trades or completed apprenticeship; or 2 years of Combustion Turbine maintenance and operation experience.
  • Up to date demonstrated electrical or instrument and control experience required.

Preferred Experience
  • A combination of the electrical or instrument and control trades or completed apprenticeship.

Other Requirements
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Employees in this job classification are covered by the Residency Policy and will be required to live within 60 minutes of their headquarters.
