General Statement:

Under the general supervision of the Houston Service Center Manager, and direct supervision of a field service supervisor, provides technical support and hands-on repair and diagnostic services on Motor operated valves (MOVs)

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform MOV refurbish activities including preventative and corrective maintenance, actuator regrease, electrical equipment removal/installation, valve position limit switch setup on Motor Operator Actuators (Emerson Electric Actuation, Limitorque, Rotork, etc.).
  • Perform Troubleshooting as required to identify root cause of issue, to return actuator to proper operating condition.
  • Familiarity with pneumatic actuation and valves.
  • Document all incoming items for shop repair
    • Survey
    • Photo
    • Enter job to open order log
  • Maintain required safety, drug testing and background check credentials
  • Performs teardown, inspection, and rebuilds of valves and actuation in field
  • Performs diagnostics and troubleshooting of valves and instruments
  • Dispatches to customer site as scheduled
  • Perform onsite walk-downs to scope repair requirements and recommend repair options and benefits

          QUALIFICATIONS:

          Education/Knowledge:

          • High school diploma or equivalent.

          Experience/Skills:

          • Must have 3 years' experience in MOV refurbishment.
          • Must be able to meet customer requirements for onsite access: background and safety requirements.

          COMPETENCIES:

          • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, with the ability to interpret technical manuals.
          • Ability to safely use and maintain a large variety of tools and equipment.
          • Ability to read and implement repair procedures and processes.
          • Possesses knowledge of A/C electrical circuitry and wiring.
          • Ability to work independently or as a team member.
          • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
          • Ability to clearly communicate with supervision, team members, customers and salespeople.
          • Ability to follow instructions, procedures and repair processes
          • Possesses basic computer skills.

          WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

          • Must be able to wear maximum level of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) without restriction which may include but is not limited to: hardhat; safety glasses; fire resistant clothing; safety-toed footwear; hearing protection; respiratory protection, etc.
          • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
          • Must be able to walk and stand 8 hours per day.
          • Frequent climbing, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping.
          • Hazards: Potential exposure to chemicals. Proximity to moving mechanical and mobile equipment.
          • Must be able to work outside in environmental conditions which at times include extreme heat or extreme cold.
          • Environmental Conditions: Exposure to chemical plant manufacturing facilities. Must work both outside and inside and often in inclement weather conditions. Frequent exposure to noise and vibration. Must be able to distinguish emergency and other alarms and respond according to prescribed procedures.
