Travel ER Registered Nurse (RN) - Nights


Location: Towson, MD 21204
Contract Length: 7 Weeks (09/14/2026 - 10/31/2026)
Shift: Nights, 3x12s or 4x12s (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
Guaranteed Hours: 36 Hours Weekly
Weekend Requirement: Every Other Weekend
Holiday Requirement: Required
 

Position Overview

Seeking an experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) for a 7-week travel assignment. The ideal candidate will possess strong emergency nursing skills, demonstrate excellent critical thinking abilities, and provide high-quality care to patients ranging from pediatric to geriatric populations in a fast-paced Emergency Department environment.

Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care utilizing the nursing process.
  • Triage patients according to acuity and severity of condition.
  • Recognize and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition.
  • Administer medications and treatments as ordered by providers.
  • Provide emergency interventions within RN scope of practice.
  • Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure effective patient outcomes.
  • Develop and update individualized patient care plans, including discharge planning and patient education.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation.
  • Adhere to departmental policies, procedures, and emergency care protocols.
  • Ensure HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality standards are maintained.

  • Patient Population: Pediatric through Geriatric
  • Average Daily Census: 30 Patients
  • Beds: 40
  • Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:4
  • Patient Diagnoses Include:
    • Respiratory Conditions
    • Chest Pain
    • Myocardial Infarction (STEMI/Non-STEMI)
    • Cardiac Catheterization Lab Patients
    • Stroke/TPA Patients
    • Orthopedic Injuries
    • Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) Trauma
    • Psychiatric Emergencies

Note: Facility is not a designated trauma center; major trauma cases are transferred to a trauma center located approximately 10 minutes away. The Emergency Department frequently treats psychiatric patients, with up to 6 psych patients in the department at one time.

RequirementsExperience
  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Room RN experience required.
  • First-time travelers accepted.
Licensure & Certifications
  • Active Maryland RN License required.
  • BLS Certification required.
  • ACLS Certification required.
  • PALS Certification required.
  • NIH Stroke Scale Certification required.
Additional Requirements
  • Strong communication and critical thinking skills.
  • Computer proficiency required.
  • Knowledge of emergency department workflows and patient care standards.
  • Ability to comply with all federal, state, and facility requirements.
