Overview

We are seeking a technically strong and execution-focused Senior Manager of Engineering to lead the development of our smart access platform serving the self-storage industry. This is a high-impact role responsible for driving engineering execution across backend cloud infrastructure, mobile applications, and customer-facing web interfaces. You will oversee and scale a small but multidisciplinary team delivering secure, reliable, and seamless access experiences for facility operators and tenants. The ideal candidate has deep experience in building cloud-connected IoT systems and is fluent across software stacks including GoLang, React, AWS, C++ and native mobile development.

Responsibilities
  • Technical Leadership
    • Drive the architecture and development of software solutions
    • Ensure scalability, fault tolerance, and security across all system components
    • Drive best practices for code quality, system performance, CI/CD automation, monitoring, and reliability.
  • Software Stack & Systems Integration
    • Guide full-stack development efforts leveraging: GoLang for backend services and APIs, React/TypeScript for responsive web applications, React Native for mobile apps, AWS for scalable infrastructure
    • Integrate with third-party systems such as storage facility management platforms, access control vendors, and identity providers (OAuth/SAML).
    • Ensure all services follow robust security practices including TLS, encryption at rest, role-based access control, and secure device provisioning.
  • Team Leadership & Delivery
    • Manage a team of 5 to 10 developers/engineers.
    • Ensure outcomes are delivered
  • Cross-Functional Execution
    • Collaborate with Product, Customer Success, and Operations to ensure solutions meet customer needs and real-world deployment constraints.
    • Partner with vendors and external development firms as needed to deliver against roadmap goals.
    Qualifications
    • 3 years in technical leadership roles.
    • Proven success delivering and scaling secure, cloud-connected IoT systems.
    • Strong programming skills in Go, with hands-on experience designing and deploying systems in AWS.
    • Experience building responsive front-ends with React and native mobile apps (Swift/Kotlin).
    • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, observability tools, and release management in production environments.
    • Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
