• Perform diagnostic radiographic examinations according to physician orders and departmental protocols.
• Prepare and position patients accurately to obtain quality diagnostic images while ensuring patient comfort and safety.
• Operate radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment in accordance with established procedures and radiation safety guidelines.
• Evaluate images for technical quality and completeness before submitting for interpretation.
• Provide imaging support for emergency department, inpatient units, operating rooms, and outpatient departments.
• Assist physicians during fluoroscopic and specialized imaging procedures as needed.
• Maintain accurate patient records, examination documentation, and imaging information within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems.
• Adhere to radiation protection principles for patients, staff, and visitors.
• Perform equipment quality assurance checks and report equipment malfunctions promptly.
• Monitor patient conditions during imaging procedures and respond appropriately to patient needs.
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies, infection control standards, HIPAA regulations, and applicable state and federal requirements.
• Collaborate effectively with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure quality patient care.
• Participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities.
• May be required to rotate through evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call assignments.
• Exhibits an acceptable work ethic as evidenced by regular and prompt attendance, as well as following all timekeeping/ clocking policies.
• May assist with training of Radiology students.
• Appropriately labels patient position to reflect correct orientation of images with use of markers.
• Adjusts technical factors in proportions to patient and body part being examined while minimizing radiation.
• Recognizes emergency situations and initiates code procedures as needed.
• Performs patient assessment and screening, such as allergies, potential drug interactions, and lab requirements, within the scope of practice.
• Reviews patient's prior imaging and history to ensure appropriate exam is ordered, consulting the Radiologist or ordering practitioner when needed.
• Maintains aseptic or sterile technique, as appropriate, when performing invasive procedures.
• Performs c-arm procedures in OR as well as ancillary areas.
• Administers oral and/or rectal contrast per approved protocols and the order of licensed practitioner.
• Reviews CPOE and written orders checking for special instructions from physicians and consults with physicians as needed.
• Maintains necessary inventory of supplies, rotating stock in an orderly fashion, and eliminating outdated items.
• Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of the department.
• Completes all mandatory educational requirements in a timely manner.
• Cooperates, helps others, and improves the performance of the unit.
• Participates on committees as assigned.
• Completes all mandatory department, educational and hospital requirements
• Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards
• Regular and prompt attendance
• Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required
• Related duties as assigned

Employees must be in a regular position, working 20 hours or more per week (.50 FTE or greater) to qualify for benefits.

• High School Diploma or equivalent and successful completion of an approved course in Radiologic Technology Required
• ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Diagnostic Radiology within 1 Year Required
• BCLS - Basic Life Support Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required
• Comparable combination of education and experience may substitute for the above requirements.
