What is mobile pet grooming?

Mobile pet grooming is a convenient service where professional groomers travel to a client’s home or location in a specially equipped vehicle to groom pets. This service typically includes bathing, haircuts, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and other grooming tasks performed right outside your door. Mobile pet grooming reduces stress for pets by eliminating the need for travel and waiting in busy salons, providing a personalized experience in a familiar environment. It's especially popular among pet owners seeking convenience or pets who are anxious about traditional grooming settings.

What are some common challenges faced by mobile pet groomers and how can they be addressed?

Mobile pet groomers often face challenges such as managing unpredictable weather, ensuring efficient scheduling across different locations, and handling pets who may be anxious in a mobile setting. To address these, it's important to invest in a reliable, climate-controlled grooming vehicle, use scheduling software to optimize routes, and develop strong communication skills to reassure both pets and their owners. Building flexibility into your daily routine and maintaining clear communication with clients can also help ensure smooth operations and high customer satisfaction.

Furry Land Milwaukee is growing, and we're looking for an experienced dog bather/handler who wants to train into a full-time mobile pet groomer.
This is a paid training opportunity for someone who already has hands-on dog bathing experience and wants to build a serious career in professional grooming.
Training typically takes 4-6 weeks, depending on experience, attendance, coachability, and progress.
Why Join Furry Land Milwaukee
  • Paid training path into professional grooming
  • Mobile grooming environment with one-on-one appointments
  • Growing client base and strong local demand
  • Supportive team and hands-on training
  • Professional grooming vans and quality equipment
  • Stable base pay plus commissions and tips as you progress
  • Paid vacation time
  • Career growth opportunities as we continue to grow

What You'll Do
  • Bathe, shampoo, condition, dry, and brush dogs
  • Learn proper coat care, matting assessment, and safe handling
  • Assist with nails, ears, brushing, sanitation, and prep work
  • Support professional groomers during appointments
  • Learn grooming tools, techniques, safety standards, and client expectations
  • Help keep the grooming van clean, sanitized, stocked, and organized
  • Follow direction from the team lead and accept feedback
  • Build the skills needed to eventually groom independently

What We're Looking For
  • At least 1-2 years of hands-on dog bathing experience
  • Comfort handling different breeds, sizes, coat types, and temperaments
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
  • Calm, patient approach with animals
  • Ability to accept feedback and improve quickly
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift pets weighing 50+ pounds
  • Valid Wisconsin driver's license and clean driving record
  • Smartphone

Cat handling or cat bathing experience is a plus, but not required.
You'll Be a Great Fit If You Are
  • Serious about building a grooming career
  • Dependable and on time
  • Coachable and open to feedback
  • Comfortable with physical work
  • Patient with nervous or anxious pets
  • Able to follow detailed instructions
  • Looking for long-term growth, not just a short-term job

This Role May Not Be a Fit If You

  • Struggle with punctuality or attendance
  • Are not comfortable receiving direct feedback
  • Are looking for a low-stress or low-accountability job
  • Are unsure whether you want to work with pets long term
  • Are not ready to commit to a structured training process

Training Expectations
During training and the first 90 days, we evaluate attendance, coachability, animal handling, bathing and prep quality, pace, communication, cleanliness, and readiness to grow into a mobile grooming role.
Apply today if you are an experienced dog bather who is reliable, coachable, hardworking, and ready to build a career in mobile pet grooming
Compensation: $15.00 per hour
