Community Development:  AmeriCorps VISTA

Make an impact where it matters most!

NeighborWorks Northeastern Pennsylvania (NWNEPA) is looking for a driven and community-minded individual to serve a year with AmeriCorps VISTA from August 10, 2026 through August 9, 2027. As a leader in neighborhood revitalization, NWNEPA empowers individuals and families through access to quality housing, financial guidance, and community development-creating stronger, more vibrant communities across the region.

About the Position

Help build stronger communities-starting now. Join NWNEPA and take an active role in tackling the shortage of safe, affordable housing across Northeastern Pennsylvania. As a VISTA member, you won't just observe change-you'll help drive it.

What you'll do:

  • Dive into NWNEPA's programs to understand real community needs
  • Spot gaps in housing and community development services-and help close them
  • Partner with program teams to measure impact and improve outcomes
  • Strengthen and reimagine the Mobile Toolkit program as a community resource
  • Build and lead a volunteer corps to support key initiatives
  • Help bring the Beautiful Blocks program to new neighborhoods
  • Identify funding opportunities to fuel growth and sustainability
  • Expand leadership training to empower local residents

This is a full-time, one-year service opportunity where your work makes a lasting difference. In return, you'll receive a living allowance, education award, professional training, and valuable hands-on experience in community development.

Make your year matter. Apply your skills where they count.
