With minimal direct supervision, the Fleet Technician II is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all Mobile Storage rental fleet equipment, including containers, ground level office, office trailers, and/or modular buildings. It is the responsibility of the Fleet Technician II to perform all cleaning and maintenance tasks in a safe manner in accordance with company standards. The Fleet Technician II must be capable of effectively performing all duties of an Equipment Associate and a Fleet Technician I.
What you'll do:
  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of Mobile Storage quality standards
  • Ability to complete all, or a combination of, the following: remove, repair and install floors, tiles, roofs, walls, frames, doors, leaks, caulking, windows, screens, painting, filter/dampers, replacing skin, trim, tagging of equipment, or removal/install of UR decals and equipment numbers
  • Competency to perform all or a combination of the following: basic electrical, plumbing, and/or welding repairs/modifications with minimal direction
  • Hooking mobile office to power source
  • Checking tire pressure and lugs
  • Complete assignments on time and within budget
  • Complete assignments as documented on Work Order
  • Complete necessary documentation (work order, etc.)
  • Travel to customer sites to set office trailers and assist CDL A Drivers when needed
  • Equipment Modifications:
  • Complete in accordance with manufacturer's specifications and state and local building codes
  • Complete in accordance with approved specifications
  • Complete assignments on time and within budget
  • Organization and Cleanliness of Shop, Yard, Tools and Supplies :
  • Follow Mobile Storage and United Rentals 5S guidelines
  • Meet cleanliness standards on each & every assignment
  • Store tools, supplies, and Value Added Products (VAPs) in proper and secure place
  • Keep yard organized and free of debris
  • Advise supervisor of supply needs
  • Inbound and outbound equipment inspections and processing; follow Rental Flow procedures
  • Fork Lift Operations
  • Show and exhibit fleet to customers when needed
  • Safely install and/or uninstall VAPs according to reservation requirements

Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Active applicable state class driver's license
  • 3-5 years of experience with basic electrical, plumbing and/or welding repairs
  • Basic verbal and written skills
  • Construction knowledge and background
  • Teamwork and customer service skills
  • Demonstrated time management skills
  • Ability to utilize required information technology
  • Working knowledge of heavy equipment, tools, and manufacturers' warranty process
  • Accurately record time and material used for proper work order completion
  • Ability to coach and mentor less experienced operations staff
  • Lift up to 45 lbs.

The Fleet Technician II independently performs intermediate refurbishment and repair tasks on mobile storage equipment such as containers, ground-level offices, and mobile/modular offices, including structural, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC work, while informally coaching other technicians on general tasks. The incumbent has the ability to perform general repairs, cleaning, preparation, and operational tasks. This role may include such other responsibilities and duties as assigned from time to time, based upon company needs.
What you'll do:
  • Perform intermediate refurbishment and repair across structural, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, following standard procedures and work orders.
  • Perform intermediate refurb work: floor decking replacement, general structural work per standard procedures
  • Complete general electrical, plumbing, and HVAC tasks with minimal direct supervision
  • Remove, repair, and install floors, tiles, roofs, walls, frames, doors, windows, screens, caulking, painting, filter, replacing trim, and other intermediate repair and maintenance, swapping wheels, tires, and axles, and other repetitive repairs
  • Complete assignments as documented on work orders within established timeframes
  • Document work completed and materials used on work orders using the required mobile applications
  • Remove and install decals and equipment numbers
  • Complete equipment inspections, documentation, and modifications in line with company procedures and standards
  • Complete inspections following Rental Flow procedures utilizing work orders and required mobile applications
  • Tag equipment according to company standards
  • Report equipment condition, damage, or maintenance needs requiring advanced repair
  • Complete equipment modifications in accordance with manufacturer specifications and approved specifications
  • Perform service calls and field work independently for routine tasks, ensuring clear communication and accurate field documentation.
  • Perform straightforward service calls independently with guidance for complex tasks or situations
  • Handle routine customer interaction, explaining work and confirming completion
  • Travel to customer sites to set up mobile/modular offices and assist CDL A Drivers when needed
  • Complete necessary field documentation and reporting
  • Maintain a safe, organized shop and yard while informally coaching other technicians and supporting operations as needed.
  • Follow Mobile Storage and United Rentals 5S guidelines
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas, tools, and supplies
  • Use appropriate PPE and operate tools safely
  • Participate in Safety Huddles and report safety observations
  • Store tools, supplies, and Workplace Ready Solutions in a proper and secure place
  • Informally coach and train other technicians on basic tasks
  • Operate forklift and material handling equipment safely
  • Show and exhibit fleet to customers when needed
  • Install/uninstall Workplace Ready Solutions according to specifications

Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of experience with general electrical, plumbing, and/or welding repairs or demonstrated competency
  • Construction knowledge and background preferred
  • Entry-level position with general construction, maintenance, or mechanical experience preferred
  • General mechanical aptitude and advanced tool knowledge
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions and technical specifications
  • Strong attention to detail for quality repairs and customer interaction
  • Valid state driver's license with acceptable driving record
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Teamwork and customer service skills
  • Demonstrated time management skills
  • Ability to utilize required information technology
