Job description

Job Posting
Senior Mobile Software Engineer
Full Time - Office Hybrid - Plano, TX Location
Role Overview
As a Senior Mobile Software Engineer, you will be a key contributor on the Android team, owning significant features and technical areas within the FlexCount mobile application. You will work on high-scale, customer-facing systems, collaborate closely with backend and product partners, and help raise engineering quality through strong design and execution. This role emphasizes hands-on development, reliability, and performance rather than org-wide technical leadership.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain high-quality Android features for a mission-critical, enterprise-scale application.
  • Own moderately complex problem spaces within the mobile application (e.g., offline behavior, background processing, sync reliability).
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, backend engineers, and QA to deliver features safely and predictably.
  • Diagnose and resolve performance issues, ANRs, and stability concerns in production environments.
  • Contribute to improving mobile reliability, scalability, and user experience across a large device fleet.
  • Follow and help evolve Android engineering standards, patterns, and best practices within the team.
  • Write well-tested, maintainable code and participate actively in code reviews.
  • Support production incidents and participate in on-call rotations when required.
  • Mentor junior engineers through pairing, code reviews, and technical guidance.
  • Contribute to tooling, libraries, or refactoring efforts that improve team productivity.
  • Participate in sprint planning, estimation, and retrospectives as an engaged team member.
Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of professional Android development experience.
  • Strong proficiency with Kotlin and modern Android development practices.
  • Experience working on production Android applications with large user bases.
  • Solid understanding of performance optimization, threading, and background execution.
  • Experience building or maintaining offline-capable or enterprise-grade mobile applications.
  • Ability to debug complex issues using logs, traces, and profiling tools.
  • Experience collaborating in cross-functional, Agile teams.
  • Strong communication skills and a bias toward ownership and accountability.
  • Experience implementing or using Real User Monitoring (RUM) to understand app performance and user journeys.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with rugged or enterprise-managed Android devices.
  • Familiarity with device fleet management, MDM environments, or kiosk-mode apps.
  • Experience improving app startup time, sync performance, and responsiveness.
  • Exposure to mobile CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks.
  • Contributions to internal libraries, shared components, or platform initiatives
Why Join Us?
  • Work on a product used daily across thousands of retail locations globally.
  • Be part of a collaborative team that values engineering quality and pragmatic solutions.
  • Opportunity to grow technically and take on increased ownership over time.
  • Competitive compensation, benefits, and long-term career growth opportunities.

Working Conditions
  • Work is primarily sedentary and requires frequent use of a computer, keyboard, and mouse.
