ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking an experienced Building Engineer with a specialized focus working in a critical environment such as production, manufacturing and/or power plant but agile to work in a corporate workspace. The successful candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end operation, real-time monitoring, and expert troubleshooting, ensuring optimal performance.
You will leverage a strong background in industrial maintenance, conduct comprehensive inspections and repairs. This role is critical to maintaining the safety and efficiency of our systems through proactive mechanical oversight and rigorous operational standards.
As a CBRE Building Engineer, you will be responsible for monitoring, maintaining and repairing building system operations and the performance of various areas including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing, heating, and cooling.
This job is part of the Engineering and Technical Services job function and is responsible for providing support, preventive maintenance, and repairs on equipment and systems.
  • Proficient managing building systems (HVAC, M.E.P., inspections & preventative maintenance) within an office space or corporate facility.
  • Must live within designated radius of the job site to reliably work schedule/shift.
  • Willing to respond to incidents and emergencies as needed (on-call) including after hours and weekends.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform maintenance and repairs to the mechanical, plumbing, structural, furniture, fire, life safety, and control systems.
  • Keep facility and building systems up to applicable standards as assigned.
  • Comply with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency, and company directives related to building operations and work safety.
  • Maintain an energy management program.
  • Ensure all systems operate in the most efficient manner.
  • Assist with the implementation of a preventive maintenance program to ensure that building machinery and systems meet or exceed their rated life. Perform emergency repairs as needed.
  • Follow departmental policies for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Maintain a clean and safe workplace.
  • Review inspection to building systems including fire alarms, HVAC, and plumbing to ensure operation of equipment is within design capabilities and achieves environmental conditions prescribed by client.
  • Apply in-depth knowledge of standard principles and techniques/procedures to accomplish complex assignments and provide innovative solutions.
  • Coach others and share in-depth knowledge of own job discipline and broad knowledge of several job disciplines within the function.
  • Lead by example and model behaviors that are consistent with CBRE RISE values.
  • Work to build consensus and convince others to reach an agreement.
  • Impact a range of customer, operational, project or service activities within own team and other related teams.
  • Work within broad guidelines and policies.
  • Explain difficult or sensitive information.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
No formal supervisory responsibilities in this position. May provide informal assistance such as technical guidance and/or training to coworkers. May coordinate work and assign tasks.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Commercial and Industrial HVAC
  • Fire extinguishers and eye wash stations
  • General Facility (Office/Workspace)

WHAT YOU'LL NEED
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Minimum of four (4) years of building engineering or job-related experience.
  • Building Engineering experience that focuses on HVAC/R, Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing
  • Stationary engineering license is a plus or experience operating high-pressure boilers, HVAC, and power plant equipment
  • EPA 608 Universal is preferred (within 6 months)
  • OSHA certification is a plus

CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES
Additional certification in one or more of the following: electrical, mechanical, HVAC and refrigeration systems, process controls, mechanical power transmissions, painting, plumbing, carpentry or engine repair. Certifications/licenses as may be required by local or state jurisdictions.
OTHER SKILLS and/or ABILITIES
Meet the physical requirements of this role including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
Understanding of existing procedures and standards to solve slightly complex problems.
Ability to analyze possible solutions using technical experience to apply appropriate judgment and precedents.
Strong organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset.
In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
