Your job duties include creating a detailed app development plan, writing source code, and testing finished builds. Exact responsibilities may vary depending on app type, platform, your company, and the industry. The career requires you have excellent communication skills, as you collaborate with a team of other developers on a daily basis. Most mobile developers have at least a bachelor’s degree in computer science.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Mobile Developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Mobile Developer, you need strong programming skills in languages like Swift, Kotlin, or Java, along with experience in mobile app development frameworks and a relevant degree or equivalent experience. Familiarity with integrated development environments (IDEs) such as Android Studio or Xcode, and knowledge of version control systems like Git, are crucial, as are certifications in mobile platforms. Job description

Senior DevOps Engineer

Ready to build what’s next with one of the world’s most iconic brands?

Why Join Subway?

At Subway, we are not standing still. We are building.

This is a business focused on what matters most: growing franchisee profitability, strengthening our brand and creating long-term value. The people who thrive here are the ones who want to make a real impact.

You will not just do the work. You will shape it.

We move fast. We think like owners. We make decisions that matter. We hold ourselves to a high standard because what we do directly impacts thousands of franchisees around the world.

If you bring energy, accountability and a bias for action, you will fit right in.

We take the work seriously, but we also know the best results come from teams that support each other, celebrate wins and show up ready to build something better every day.

This is your chance to be part of what’s next.

About the Role:

Subway’s Guest Engineering team is in the middle of a major platform transformation — modernizing our Adobe Experience Cloud stack and assembling a high-caliber engineering team to own our guest engagement technology for the long term. The Senior DevOps Engineer is a key new role sitting at the center of that transformation.

You will own the CI/CD infrastructure, release engineering, and platform operations that underpin three cross-functional Guest Engagement product teams spanning CRM & Loyalty, Personalization & ID, and Merchandising Automation. The platforms you will support include Adobe Experience Platform — including Real-Time CDP, Adobe Journey Optimizer, and Customer Journey Analytics — alongside React Native mobile applications, React web applications, and Adobe Experience Manager.

This is a hands-on, high-ownership role. You will not just maintain pipelines — you will design and continuously improve the automation, security scanning, quality gating, and release processes that let our engineering teams move fast without breaking things. You will also be a key contributor to Subway’s AI-first engineering culture, leveraging Claude by Anthropic and our growing library of reusable engineering Skills to drive automation and reduce toil across the DevOps practice.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Design, implement, and continuously improve CI/CD pipelines across the Guest Engagement platform — covering AEP-integrated services, React Native mobile applications, React web applications, and AEM. Automate build, test, and deployment workflows across development, staging, and production environments using Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions.
  • Integrate and maintain code quality and security tooling within CI/CD pipelines, including SonarQube for code quality enforcement and Wiz for cloud security scanning. Configure release gates, quality thresholds, and automated remediation workflows that protect production environments.
  • Support Adobe Experience Platform operations — including deployment automation for AEP configurations, AJO journey publishing workflows, and integration with Subway’s data pipelines. Collaborate with the Adobe Martech Tech Lead and platform engineers to build and maintain AEP-aware DevOps patterns and environment management.
  • Manage SSL/TLS certificate lifecycle across environments, automating renewal, deployment, and compliance monitoring to Subway’s security standards.
  • Own mobile app release engineering for the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, including build signing, release packaging, and store submission automation.
  • Document DevOps processes, runbooks, and pipeline standards. Serve as a DevOps resource and practitioner for cross-functional engineering teams — training engineers on CI/CD best practices and championing automation-first thinking across the Guest Engagement organization.

Skills and Abilities Required

  • Strong hands-on DevOps engineering skills with demonstrated experience designing and operating CI/CD pipelines in a production environment using Azure DevOps and/or GitHub Actions.
  • Deep familiarity with code quality and cloud security tooling — including SonarQube for quality enforcement and Wiz or equivalent for security scanning — and the ability to configure release gates and automated remediation workflows.
  • Proficiency in scripting (Bash, Python, or equivalent) for pipeline automation, environment management, and operational tooling.
  • Experience managing SSL/TLS certificate lifecycle automation across multi-environment deployments.
  • Hands-on experience with React Native mobile application delivery pipelines, including App Store and Google Play release automation.
  • Working familiarity with Adobe Experience Manager and Adobe Experience Platform, including DevOps considerations for AEP-integrated services such as environment management, configuration deployment, and data pipeline operations.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Strong debugging and root-cause analysis skills across distributed CI/CD systems and cloud environments.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with engineering, QA, and product teams on release status, pipeline health, and deployment risk.
  • Security-minded approach to pipeline design — comfortable owning security gate configuration and working with infosec teams on compliance.
  • Self-directed and proactive; able to identify operational gaps and drive improvements without waiting to be asked.
  • Collaborative mindset with a commitment to documentation and knowledge sharing across the team.
  • Proficiency with AI-assisted development tooling (Claude, GitHub Copilot, or equivalent) as a daily engineering practice.
  • 5 or more years of hands-on DevOps or platform engineering experience, Including CI/CD pipelines design and operations in a production enviroment.
  • Travel: Periodic travel between North Hub and South Hub locations as projects require.

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct hands-on experience with Adobe Experience Platform operational practices — including AJO deployment workflows, RT-CDP data pipeline management, or AEP sandbox and environment governance.
  • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer or equivalent cloud certification.
  • Experience with Dynatrace, Datadog, or equivalent APM and observability platforms.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Workfront and Fusion from a workflow automation and integration operations perspective.
  • Experience building DevOps tooling or automation leveraging large language models or AI agents.
  • Background in a restaurant, hospitality, retail, or consumer loyalty technology environment.
  • Experience with multi-region cloud deployments and global traffic management.

What do we offer?

  • Insurance Plans (Medical, Life)
  • Pension/401K/RSP (country specific)
  • Competitive Bonus
  • Mobility Allowance
  • Tuition Reimbursement
  • Company Holidays
  • Volunteering time
  • And More.....

Compensation: The base pay range for this role is $119,200 - 149,000 USD annually.

Pay within this range will be determined in good faith based on job-related factors, which may include skills, experience, education/training, location, and internal equity.
