Position Description
ERS is currently seeking a crane operator. The crane operator's primary function is to operate the crane safely and effectively. The operator must perform daily maintenance checks and report any mechanical or safety issues to a supervisor. In addition, the crane operator may be required to perform minor repairs to the equipment and to assist in the general operation of each job site. Heavy equipment operating is preferred also in the construction industry.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Operate mobile crane and move materials to various locations in a safe and effective manner.
  • Inspect, rig, and ensure that rigging applications are configured in accordance with the load chart and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Inspect, clean, and perform operator level maintenance on equipment in accordance with standards.
  • Closely interact with the supervisor for movement of materials and equipment.
  • Perform daily safety checks to ensure equipment is in safe operating condition.
  • Follow related safety regulations, contract requirements, company policies, and operating procedures.
  • Complete necessary documentation, reporting, and limited office duties.
  • Thorough understanding of crane operation characteristics, controls, emergency skills, response to fire, power line contact, tipping, malfunction characteristics, etc.
  • Demonstrate basic abilities in reading, writing, arithmetic skills and load chart usage.
  • Effectively coordinate daily activities with supervisors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
The above listed duties require periods of standing, walking, climbing, stooping, and bending as well as periodic lifting of up to 50 pounds.
Position Requirements
  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred.
  • Must be able to understand work directions and communicate effectively with job site supervisors and fellow employees.
  • NCCCO Certification required.
  • Valid DOT Physical Card.
  • 3 year or more industry related experience is preferred for this position, with an emphasis on roads, highways, bridges and pile driving.
  • Operate large cranes of 250 tons Friction and Hydraulic
  • Qualified Rigging Level 1 training
  • Qualified Signal Person Level 1 training.
  • Full time + hours.
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends when required.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to consistently get to work on-time and work scheduled shifts.
