Job description

JOB SUMMARY:
The Crane Manager is responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining electric, diesel, and gasoline-powered cranes, hoists, and related heavy equipment. This role also requires the ability to assemble and disassemble lattice boom and hydraulic cranes. The Crane Manager ensures safe, reliable, and efficient equipment operation in the shop and on job sites.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
Must be able to perform these duties with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair gasoline and diesel-powered crane engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical components.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on cranes, hoists, and related heavy equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical manuals, and service instructions to complete repairs accurately.
  • Lead crane assembly and disassembly at job sites.
  • Select and use proper tools, diagnostic equipment, and repair techniques for each task.
  • Operate and maintain assigned tools and equipment in a safe, effective manner.
  • Conduct quality checks and inspections to verify proper operation after service or repair.
  • Document all maintenance, service, and repair activities according to company and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with supervisors, engineers, and team members to resolve complex mechanical issues.
  • Adhere to OSHA, DOT, and company safety regulations at all times, using appropriate PPE.
  • Respond promptly to breakdowns, emergencies, or field service calls to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Ability to adhere to established work schedules with regular and reliable attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
โ€ข NYS Crane License (Class A preferred)
โ€ข Experience in assembly and disassembly of all styles of cranes.
โ€ข Knowledge of gasoline and diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
โ€ข Knowledge of crane safety regulations and procedures for servicing heavy equipment.
โ€ข Knowledge of safe and proper use of tools, diagnostic devices, and lifting equipment.
โ€ข Ability to read and understand repair manuals, schematics, and technical diagrams.
โ€ข Basic math skills, including algebra and geometry, for measurements and calculations.
โ€ข Recordkeeping and documentation skills for maintenance and inspection logs.
โ€ข Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately.
โ€ข Effective verbal and written communication skills.
โ€ข Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships.
Preferred Qualifications:
โ€ข Minimum 2-5 years of experience in crane assembly and dissassembly.
โ€ข Class A CDL license, OSHA 10/30 Construction, or Crane Inspector certification (preferred but not required).
โ€ข Familiarity with computerized diagnostic systems and repair software.
