Seabrook Solutions is seeking an experienced Civil/Structural Engineer to provide technical support to NASA facilities located at Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC). MSFC facilities house a broad range of technical, program management and administrative functions that directly support NASA’s mission. Maintaining functionality while being highly adaptable to the ever-changing research and development environment is paramount to the success of the nation’s space exploration vision. Engineers work closely with operational units to assure efficiency and reliability in critical systems.

Serve as lead Civil/Structural Engineer with technical responsibility for planning and conducting technical projects or phases of projects.

  1. Ensures compliance with established codes, procedures, work instructions, standards, guides, precedents, methods, and techniques within discipline.
  2. Conform to established civil/structural engineering design criteria, apply and provide guidance, evaluation and assessment for facility projects.
  3. Perform load calculations for heavy equipment/lifting/rigging operations.
  4. Perform design reviews for facility construction projects.
  5. Provide CAD support for shop drawings and site plans as needed for various construction projects, redline, and as-built drawings.
  6. Perform facility condition assessments on government-owned facilities.
  7. Coordinate efforts of technical support personnel, drafters, technical writers and electronic technicians for installation and retrofit sketches, as-built drawings, operating sequences, job plans, operations and maintenance support documentation.
  8. Develop and recommend Systems and Applications approaches for new and improved products and/or processes.
  9. Conduct independent technical investigation involving the origination or modification of material, component or process specifications.
  10. May train other engineers on technical issues related to the research, design, development, testing and analysis of engineering assignments.
  11. May provide technical management and leadership to a group of employees for a given project, contract or job with overall responsibility for cost, schedule technical and employee performance.
  12. Direct interface and liaison with internal and external customers at all levels from quotation to final acceptance and test activities, design reviews and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications. Maintain physical and electronic records for construction project closeout, including warranties, O&M Manuals, As-Built Drawings, Submittals, etc.

Perform all other related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

Bachelor’s Degree (BS) in Engineering from an accredited school. Must have ten (10) years of job-related experience in civil or mechanical engineering with an emphasis on structural design. Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering exam (FE) and progression to registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) desired. This position may require limited travel. This position will require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

Typical office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 20 pounds, constant sitting while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must possess planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines.
