Description:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Cancer Exercise Specialist at the YMCA of the Greater Tri-Valley serves others by intentionally welcoming, connecting, and supporting them while they participate in the Stay Strong Program. The Stay Strong program is designed to help participants while actively going through cancer, and or just starting remission. The Cancer Exercise Specialist is responsible for planning and leading individualized or group exercise for participants involved in the Stay Strong Program.

Requirements:

Job Requirements:

ยท Cancer Exercise Specialist Certification through ACE (YMCA will consider paying for certification with intention of long-term employment)

ยท Certifications required within 30 days of hire: CPR, First Aid and AED

ยท Formal training in the specialty class being taught and/or ability to demonstrate the movements and exercises.

ยท Demonstrated customer service skills and verbal communication skills.

ยท Demonstrated ability to lead an individual/group and motivate others to achieve their health and well-being goals.

ยท Demonstrated ability working with all age groups and ability levels.

ยท Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.

ยท Commitment to inclusion and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

ยท Must meet all Association-Wide training requirements

ยท Must be able to pass a Nationwide Criminal and Sex Offender Registry Background Screening.

ยท Must ensure that the physical and social environments for program delivery reflect the Yโ€™s definition of character and values
