Job description
- Candidates should understand and demonstrate tactical aspects of soccer and be able to lead drills and training sessions with the Head Coach.
- This position will assist in the player recruiting process through email communication, phone calls, and attending tournaments of high school prospective student athletes.
- The Assistant Coach will also assist the Head Coach in organizing and implementing fundraising events.
- Provide positive feedback and constructive criticism to athletes to improve individual performance.
- Create a Christ-centered team community by focusing on athletes’ spiritual growth and maturity.
- Promote the ideals of Christian sportsmanship in all phases of conducting an intercollegiate athletic program reflective of a Biblical University.
- Support the Head Coach by establishing appropriate and effective mentoring relationships with student athletes.
- Participate in additional tasks and responsibilities as needed to support the overall operations and goals of the department. This may include contributing to cross-functional projects, assisting colleagues, or responding to evolving priorities, even when such tasks fall outside the specific scope of the role.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Valid driver’s license is required.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Prior playing or coaching experience at the collegiate level preferred; successful high school or club coaching experience will be considered.
- Frequent walking, running, standing, and movement on fields, courts, or training areas—often for extended periods during practices, games, and conditioning sessions.
- Ability to demonstrate athletic techniques, perform drills, and participate in moderate physical activity as needed for instruction or engagement.
- Occasional lifting, carrying, and setup of athletic equipment, training gear, or team supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Use of hands and fingers to operate sports-related equipment, computer systems, mobile devices, and standard office equipment.
- Visual and auditory ability to observe athletes’ performance, ensure safety, and communicate effectively in both indoor and outdoor environments.
- Ability to travel with teams for competitions, training camps, or recruitment events, which may include overnight stays and long-distance driving.
- Stamina and flexibility to work long, irregular hours including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays during the competitive season.
- Exposure to a variety of weather conditions while coaching outdoor sports or supervising team activities.
- Focused attention required to plan strategies, analyze performance, and make real-time decisions during practices and games.
- Ability to remain composed, encouraging, and authoritative in high-pressure situations, including competitions and emotionally intense interactions.
- Capacity to lead and motivate individuals and teams, address sensitive issues, and model sportsmanship and institutional values.
- Adaptability to respond to changing schedules, athlete needs, regulatory requirements, and program goals.
