Position Title: Railcar Loader/Laborer/Bulk Loader
About the Role:
The Railcar Loader/Laborer/Bulk Loader primary duties are to backfill all three positions when needed on all shifts including Saturday, Sunday, and Holidays. A Railcar Loader will perform all relevant tasks required for the preparation and loading of rail cars including the operation of the rail car pusher. Laborer duties include overall plant clean-up and general labor activities. The Bulk Loader is the company's interface on-site with customers. It is critical that the Bulk Loader promotes good customer relations by interacting in a business-like and professional manner with the customers; must be courteous, cooperative and responsible to the customer's needs and serve as weighmaster and coordinate with the rail car loading team.
Responsibilities:
  • Perform all relevant tasks required for the preparation and loading of rail cars including the operation of the rail car pusher.
  • Spot trucks and rail cars for loading on scales; be able to read and operate electronic/computerized scale. Coordinate and cooperate with customer service (traffic) department.
  • Load proper type and amount of cement into bulk transport vehicles utilizing bulk loading equipment including air slides, blower valves, bin blasts, vacuum system, etc.
  • Coordinate with the Laboratory on special conditions such as testing. Sample customer loads and sample temperature of customer loads, as ordered by Laboratory.
  • Ensure safe travel of trucks and rail cars through the scale area; Coordinate with traffic patterns and Safety.
  • Keep bulk loading station clean and in an orderly manner
  • Interface with on-site customers, promote good customer relations, interact in a business-like and professional manner, being courteous, cooperative and responsible to the customer's needs.
  • As a Laborer, perform general labor activities for the entire plant, including plant clean-up, complete general housekeeping assignments, and maintain cleanliness of plant work areas.
  • Operate safely, inspect, and lubricate all mobile equipment (i.e., bobcat, loader), as required including and in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  • Backfill current and future jobs as required (which are on rotating three shifts).
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Understand and comply with all safety regulations. Identify and correct safety hazards; participate in regular safety training, safety topic meetings and task training. Cooperate with all external inspectors as necessary.
Job Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid, unrestricted driver's license.
  • Experience using (or ability to learn) plant mobile equipment.
  • Able to work all shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime.
  • Successfully complete on-the-job training.
  • Able to interact with customer drivers professionally and courteously.
Physical Requirements:
  • Able to wear all required MSHA safety equipment.
  • Able to stand, walk, balance, climb steps and ladders, traverse walkways (including catwalks) and work on platforms and at high elevations.
  • Work in confined spaces and awkward positions which require the ability to twist, turn, bend, crouch, stoop, and kneel.
  • Lift/carry/push/pull up to 94 lbs.
  • Able to safely operate mobile plant equipment to standards, enter & exit vehicles (by pulling body weight into vehicle while maintaining a minimum three-point contact).
  • Good eyesight for close, distance, and depth perception.
  • Dexterity with both hands, extended reaching with both hands and arms.
  • Physically capable of performing strenuous assignments.
  • Proper use of standard labor tools including but not limited to jackhammers, shovels, and sledgehammers.
  • Able to stand on hard surfaces and traverse uneven work surfaces.
  • Work in and exposure to dust, noise, extreme heat, and outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time when operating equipment.
  • Proper wear and use of respirator, when required.
Starting pay:$32.86/hour
  • Additional shift differential paid when working 2nd shift ($1.50/hour) or 3rd shift ($1.80/hour) as a Loader.
