JOB DESCRIPTION

We have an exciting and rewarding opportunity for you to take your software engineering career to the next level.
As a Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer & Community Banking, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm's business objectives.
Job responsibilities

  • Designs and delivers iOS software solutions by translating product requirements into scalable mobile architectures (e.g., MVC/MVVM/Clean), implementing features in Swift (UIKit/SwiftUI), and applying non-routine thinking to build elegant solutions and rapidly decompose complex technical issues through root-cause analysis, instrumentation, and debugging (Xcode, Instruments, crash logs).
  • Builds secure, production-grade iOS code by writing high-quality, maintainable components and performance-conscious algorithms that integrate reliably with backend services and device capabilities, leveraging modern iOS concurrency patterns (GCD/Combine/async/await) to coordinate synchronous/asynchronous workflows, and enforcing mobile security best practices (secure storage/Keychain, data protection, least-privilege permissions, input validation).
  • Produces iOS architecture and design artifacts for complex mobile applications by documenting end-to-end designs (module boundaries, data flow, navigation, state management, offline/online sync, API contracts) and maintaining accountability that design constraints (performance, accessibility, security, resilience, battery/network efficiency) are implemented and enforced in Swift code through reviews, standards, and automated checks.
  • Gathers, analyzes, and synthesizes mobile and platform telemetry from large, diverse datasets (crash reports, performance traces, app analytics, network logs, CI/CD signals, feature-flag metrics, customer feedback) and develops clear visualizations/reporting (dashboards, release health summaries, regression trackers) to drive continuous improvement of iOS app quality and system reliability.
  • Proactively uncovers hidden issues and patterns in iOS codebases and operational data (recurring crash signatures, memory leaks, ANRs/hangs, excessive network chatter, slow renders, flaky tests, dependency risk) and uses these insights to improve coding hygiene (refactoring, modularization, test coverage, linting, documentation) and evolve the app/system architecture (better layering, concurrency model, caching strategy, observability).
  • Leverages enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools within the work environment to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity across complex deliverables (e.g., code generation/refactoring, unit test creation, documentation), while validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards; contributes learnings and reusable patterns to improve broader team effectiveness.
  • Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience
  • Hands-on experience designing iOS/mobile systems end-to-end, including application development in Swift (UIKit/SwiftUI), unit/UI testing (XCTest/XCUITest), and ensuring operational stability through monitoring, crash triage, performance tuning, and production support processes.
  • Proven ability to develop, debug, and maintain code in a large enterprise environment using modern languages (Swift) and data/querying technologies relevant to mobile workflows (e.g., SQL fundamentals, REST/GraphQL usage and troubleshooting, log/metric querying via observability tools).
  • Strong working knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (requirements รข design รข implementation รข testing รข release รข monitoring/incident response), with an emphasis on mobile release management (App Store/TestFlight, phased rollouts, feature flags).
  • Solid understanding of Agile delivery practices, including CI/CD for iOS (build pipelines, automated tests, code quality gates), application resiliency (graceful degradation, offline support, retries/backoff, crash-free sessions), and mobile security (secure storage/Keychain, encryption in transit/at rest where applicable, OWASP MASVS concepts, privacy and permission handling).
  • Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment (e.g., for coding, test creation, troubleshooting, or documentation) with demonstrated ability to critically evaluate, validate, and refine AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
  • Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; ability to guide peers on safe and effective usage within team practices.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Familiarity with modern front-end technologies and patterns that commonly interface with mobile clients (e.g., component-based UI concepts, TypeScript/React basics, webviews, design systems) and the ability to collaborate effectively with web and design teams.
  • Exposure to cloud technologies used by mobile ecosystems, such as API gateways, authentication/identity (OAuth2/OIDC), serverless/event-driven backends, storage/CDNs, and mobile observability/analytics platforms; comfortable diagnosing issues across client - backend boundaries.
  • Familiarity with Objective-C a plus
