The Director of Digital Engineering is a highly technical and hands on leader who will lead the development of our Digital integration platforms, Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) architecture, Mobile/Web solution architecture, and AI engineering initiatives. This role is ideal for an experienced engineering leader who thrives in code, drives architectural decisions, and builds high-performing technical teams. You will be instrumental in shaping the future of our digital platforms and delivering scalable, secure, and innovative solutions.
This position reports directly to the VP of Digital Engineering and will play a critical role in advancing our digital transformation strategy.

What You’ll Bring (Technical Expertise)

  • Minimum 10 years of experience as a developer in integration, web and mobile technologies, with at least 3-5 years managing and building development teams.

  • Expert-level proficiency in one or more of: Java, Node.js, Python, .NET, Rails.

  • Deep experience with RESTful APIs, microservices, and service-oriented architecture (SOA).

  • Strong knowledge of AI/ML engineering, including model integration and deployment.

  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS and/or Azure and/or GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).

  • Familiarity with BFF architecture, GraphQL, and API gateways.

  • Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and libraries such as jQuery.

  • Experience with iOS and Android development and responsive design.

  • Strong background in application architecture, secure coding (OWASP), and data privacy compliance.

  • Solid understanding of relational and NoSQL databases.

  • Experience with Agile, RUP, XP, and Waterfall development methodologies.

  • 5+ years of experience working with CTO, CIO, and other C-level executives.

  • 3+ years leading highly technical software development teams, including vendor and offshore management.

How You'll Shine

  • Provide technical and strategic leadership in systems and product architecture, with a strong focus on integration, BFF, and AI engineering.

  • Write production-grade code and lead by example in architectural design and implementation.

  • Be conversant with the future direction of web and mobile technologies and how they can be leveraged to benefit the enterprise.

  • Partner with business functions and the Business Relationship Management team to strategize and deliver web and mobile business solutions through technology enablement.

  • Collaborate with internal and external developers and solution providers to define and evolve the current and future state of digital platforms, including legacy integration.

  • Lead and participate in vendor management – selection, negotiation, and oversight of onshore, nearshore, and offshore partners.

  • Establish goals, objectives, and work plans for the team; set priorities and report on progress and outcomes.

  • Drive talent acquisition, performance management, coaching, and succession planning.

  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.

  • Ensure adherence to formal processes, standards, and total quality practices, with a strong emphasis on security and compliance.

  • Create a customer-focused, collaborative environment that supports both operational and strategic project work.

Travel Requirements

  • Travel should be less than 15%. Travel to different business units, offices, resorts, and corporate locations within the United States may be necessary but should not be extensive. Occasional travel for learning and development may be required.
