Job description

Our client is a well-established financial services organization experiencing rapid growth. We re hiring a hands-on Manager, AWS Data & Analytics to lead a small, high-performing team while playing a key role in modernizing our data infrastructure.

This is a player-coach position where you ll balance team leadership with technical execution, helping to build scalable data pipelines, improve our data architecture, and enable advanced analytics and AI initiatives.

This role requires 3 days onsite at the downtown Chicago, IL office.

Position Summary

  • Lead and develop a high-impact team of BI architects and data engineers, fostering a culture of ownership, innovation, and continuous improvement while acting as a hands-on technical leader
  • Architect and build modern, scalable data pipelines on AWS, leveraging services such as Redshift, RDS, and cloud-native tooling to support real-time and batch analytics
  • Drive the evolution of a cloud-first data platform, leading AWS modernization initiatives and influencing architectural direction, tooling strategy, and best practices
  • Communicate strategic improvements to team and leadership - active contribution to BI transformation end to end
  • Partner cross-functionally with business and technology stakeholders to translate complex requirements into scalable, high-performance data solutions that drive actionable insights
  • Champion performance, scalability, and reliability across the data ecosystem, proactively identifying opportunities to optimize pipelines, reduce latency, and improve data accessibility

Experience:

  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS data ecosystem, including Redshift, RDS, and building cloud-native data pipelines
  • Deep expertise in ETL/ELT frameworks and modern data architecture, with a focus on scalability, performance, and maintainability
  • Proven experience managing, leading, & mentoring experienced and green data teams in a fast-paced, delivery-oriented environment
  • Track record of building and scaling cloud-based data platforms within AWS
  • Ability to operate as both a technical leader and hands-on contributor (player-coach mindset)
  • Experience driving data platform modernization or cloud migration initiatives
  • Exposure to evaluating and implementing new data tools and technologies with a strong point of view on architecture and best practices
