What is an mm?

MM typically stands for 'Materials Management,' a function within supply chain or logistics departments that focuses on the procurement, storage, and movement of materials within an organization. Materials Managers and MM professionals ensure that the right materials are available at the right time to support production and operations. They are responsible for inventory control, demand forecasting, supplier management, and sometimes procurement. MM is also a module in SAP ERP systems used by many companies to automate and manage these processes. Professionals in this area must have strong organizational and analytical skills.

What are some common challenges faced by manufacturing managers and how can they overcome them?

To overcome these, it's important to foster clear communication across shifts, implement continuous improvement initiatives, and stay updated on industry best practices. Building strong relationships with both the operations team and upper management also helps in swiftly addressing issues and driving process enhancements.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an mm, and why are they important?
