Job Summary

Strategic and results-driven Senior HR Manager with extensive experience leading human resources initiatives across employee relations, organizational development, compliance, and workforce planning. Skilled at strengthening employee engagement, developing HR policies and processes, managing complex employee relations matters, administering union collective barganing agreements and driving initiatives that improve retention, culture, and overall business performance. Known for sound judgment, strong leadership, confidentiality, and the ability to navigate complex HR challenges while balancing employee and business needs. 

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver results in a fast-paced environment with a high-volume workload supporting People and Culture functions and operations leadership
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws, employment practices and Compass policies
  • Serve as the point of contact for employee relations issues
  • Lead and oversee employee investigations and progressive discipline procedures
  • Evaluates/audits working practices to manage risks and drive compliance
  • Supports initiatives focused on onboarding, development and new hire experience that foster a culture of inclusion and belonging
  • Proactively support and take a hands-on approach to successfully monitor the "pulse" of employees across all regions to ensure a high level of employee engagement
  • Collaborate with site and regional leadership teams to understand key people priorities including hiring, development and attrition trends
  • Proactively identifying opportunities and solutions to problems or risks
  • Provide effective and timely communication and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, leaders, and partners with minimal direction
  • Implement process improvements and actions that drive operational efficiency and organizational enablement for leaders and managers across the business
  • Engage with the client to drive improvements and ensure SLAs, metrics, and requirements are consistently completed on time
  • Demonstrate ability to influence and obtain buy-in and credibility from stakeholders and employees
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws, employment practices and Compass policies
  • Moves between strategic and operational thinking to execute strategy
  • Ensuring all team member information is accurate and up to date within the location HRIS system
  • Assist with new hire and rehire orientations
  • Ensuring the timely processing of all unemployment claims
  • Support performance reviews, corrective actions, and training initiatives across the business
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of HR Generalist or HR Business Partner experience in hospitality, operations or large retail environment
  • Prior experience working in a unionized environment, with a strong understanding of labor relations, collective bargaining agreements, and union-related policies and practices
  • Personifies core values of excellence, inclusive, collaborative, driven, and results oriented
  • Must be able to operate in a highly-matrix environment and navigate ambiguity
  • Experience managing direct reports, delegating and developing team members
  • Proven ability to drive results through executing employee programs and streamlining processes
  • Proven ability to use data and analysis to support strategic decisions
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Experience managing large scale projects
  • High level of computer literacy (Excel, Smartsheets, Word, Microsoft Office, HRIS systems)
  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
