Job description

This position is central to the missionaries' role to 'Invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end. This position supports the mission of helping individuals come unto Christ by strengthening the effectiveness of missionary training at the MTC. The Mixed-Methods Analyst contributes to research and evaluation efforts that inform decision-making and improve the missionary experience.

This role is responsible for designing and leading research and evaluation projects that address key questions about missionary training, language learning, curriculum implementation, and learner experiences. Using quantitative and qualitative methods (e.g., surveys, interviews, focus groups, observations, and assessment data), the analyst develops actionable insights that support program improvement and strategic decision-making.

In addition to conducting research, this role provides project leadership by coordinating timelines, managing stakeholders, facilitating collaboration across teams, and supporting the execution of multiple concurrent initiatives. The position works closely with Research & Evaluation staff, training leaders, curriculum teams, and other partners to ensure projects are completed with rigor, efficiency, and impact.

This is an at-will, fixed-term position with the potential for continuation based on business needs and performance.

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology, education, statistics, evaluation, anthropology, or a related field.

  • At least 2-3 years of experience conducting research, evaluation, or data analysis projects.

  • Experience using quantitative analysis software (e.g., R, Stata, SPSS) and qualitative analysis software (e.g., MAXQDA, NVivo).

  • Experience managing projects, coordinating timelines, or leading project workstreams.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Completion of research ethics training (e.g., CITI) prior to hire.

Preferred

  • Prior experience at the MTC.

  • Experience in applied research or program evaluation.

  • Experience coordinating projects and/or the work of others.

  • Prior experience presenting findings to leadership or decision-makers.

  • Ability to communicate complex findings to non-technical audiences.

Work Environment

  • Primarily office-based, requiring extended periods of sitting and computer use

  • Collaborative work with Research & Evaluation and MTC staff

Research Design & Data Collection

  • Assist in the development of research questions, evaluation plans, and study designs.

  • Design and administer surveys (e.g., Qualtrics).

  • Develop protocols (interviews, focus groups, observations) and other data collection activities.

  • Coordinate and participate in data collection efforts across multiple stakeholder groups and locations.

  • Ensure research activities adhere to ethical and data privacy standards.

Quantitative & Qualitative Data Analysis

  • Analyze survey, assessment, interview, focus group, and observational data.

  • Apply appropriate quantitative and qualitative methodologies to answer research questions.

  • Identify meaningful patterns, themes, trends, and opportunities for improvement.

  • Integrate findings across multiple data sources to develop comprehensive recommendations.

Reporting & Strategic Communication

  • Develop clear, visually compelling reports, presentations, dashboards, and executive summaries.
