Job description

Introduction: A Career at HARMAN Automotive

We’re a global, multi-disciplinary team that is putting the innovative power of technology to work and transforming tomorrow. At HARMAN Automotive, we give you the keys to fast‑track your career.

  • Engineer audio systems and integrated technology platforms that augment the driving experience
  • Combine ingenuity, in-depth research, and a spirit of collaboration with design and engineering excellence
  • Advance in‑vehicle infotainment, safety, efficiency, and enjoyment
About the Role

As a Senior AI Engineer, you will help drive internal enterprise transformation through the design, development, and deployment of AI and generative AI solutions that improve business processes and deliver measurable value across enterprise business applications and functions. This role focuses on building practical, production‑ready capabilities that increase productivity, streamline workflows, and enable better decision‑making across domains such as engineering, software, HR, legal, procurement, and costing.

You will work hands‑on across the full solution lifecycle—from problem definition and prototyping to evaluation, deployment, and ongoing optimization—while contributing to enterprise data and AI initiatives that leverage Microsoft Fabric, the broader Microsoft ecosystem, and other modern cloud and data platforms. The primary focus remains on generative AI, LLMs, agentic workflows, retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG), and enterprise copilots, with an emphasis on responsible AI, governance, and scalable adoption.

What You Will Do
  • Design, build, and deploy AI and generative AI solutions that automate internal workflows and improve productivity across enterprise business applications and functions.
  • Deliver production‑ready internal copilots, assistants, and workflow accelerators for use cases such as knowledge search, document summarization, conversational analytics, intelligent recommendations, and process automation.
  • Partner with stakeholders across engineering, software, HR, legal, procurement, costing, and similar functions to identify high‑value opportunities and translate business needs into scalable AI solutions.
  • Build and support enterprise GenAI solutions using large language models, prompt engineering, agentic workflows, and RAG patterns over structured and unstructured enterprise data.
  • Contribute to enterprise data and AI initiatives using Microsoft Fabric and the broader Microsoft ecosystem, including Azure, Azure OpenAI, Power Platform, Copilot Studio, Microsoft 365, and other related platforms.
  • Architect and develop scalable data and AI pipelines that support retrieval, orchestration, evaluation, monitoring, and secure access to enterprise information.
  • Design and implement RAG pipelines across heterogeneous enterprise datasets, including requirements documents, business rules, lessons learned, operational content, knowledge bases, and other unstructured sources.
  • Select and apply effective chunking, embedding, vector search, reranking, and routing approaches to improve retrieval quality and user outcomes.
  • Develop agentic and tool‑using workflows using frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, MCP, and related orchestration patterns.
  • Evaluate model performance, prompt behavior, grounding quality, and workflow effectiveness using structured testing, human feedback, and measurable business outcomes.
  • Implement responsible AI practices including guardrails, content filtering, access controls, auditability, and governance aligned to enterprise standards.
  • Contribute to production readiness through observability, monitoring, cost awareness, performance tuning, and reliable deployment practices.
  • Build solutions and integrations using modern application stacks such as Python, Node.js, APIs, and web frameworks, with the ability to collaborate across platform, data, and application teams.
  • Work closely with business, platform, testing, validation, and delivery teams in a fast‑paced environment with strong communication, rapid iteration, and a process‑excellence mindset.
What You Need To Be Successful
  • 6+ years of experience building production software, data, or AI solutions, including hands‑on experience with machine learning systems and/or generative AI applications.
  • Strong hands‑on experience with Python and modern software engineering practices; working knowledge of Node.js and service‑oriented application development is a plus.
  • Experience building GenAI and LLM‑powered applications, including prompt engineering, RAG, evaluation, and agentic workflows.
  • Familiarity with frameworks and tooling such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, Transformers, PyTorch, TensorFlow, or similar ecosystems.
  • Experience integrating with model providers and enterprise AI platforms such as Azure OpenAI, OpenAI, Anthropic, AWS Bedrock, Meta/Llama, Mistral, or similar services.
  • Experience with enterprise data platforms and storage technologies, including SQL and NoSQL databases, search technologies, vector databases, and modern lakehouse or warehouse platforms.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Fabric and the broader Microsoft ecosystem, including Azure services, Power Platform, Copilot Studio, Microsoft 365 integrations, and enterprise data environments.
  • Familiarity with cloud and data engineering concepts across Azure, AWS, GCP, Databricks, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, orchestration, and modern data pipelines.
  • Ability to work across structured and unstructured enterprise data to support AI use cases in internal business environments.
  • Understanding of operational excellence for AI systems, including monitoring, debugging, performance optimization, governance, security, and responsible AI practices.
  • Strong communication skills, product mindset, stakeholder collaboration, and the ability to operate effectively in cross‑functional enterprise transformation initiatives.
  • BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Data Science, or equivalent professional experience.
What Makes You Eligible
  • Ability to work from an office in Novi, MI, 3+ days per week (hybrid).
  • Successfully complete a background investigation and drug screen as a condition of employment.
