Job description

The Missions Finance Coordinator supports the financial management of Bethel’s Short-Term and Long-Term Missions programs, ensuring accurate budgeting, accounting, donor management, and compliance across all missions-related trips and long-term missionaries. This position manages the financial administration of all Bethel Short-Term Missions trips, including BSSM Spring Missions trips held each March and April, as well as financial oversight of Revival Trips and Bethel GO Trips. The role works closely with trip leaders and Bethel Missions staff to prepare them financially for each trip through budgeting support, cash and credit card procedures, and expense tracking. It also maintains accurate accounting records for each trip and student, manages donor contributions and year-end statements, and ensures financial processes follow IRS requirements for restricted and unrestricted funds.


Hours: Full Time, 30- 40 hours per week

Compensation: $23.00-$25.00 per week


Job Requirements 

● Meet individually with trip leaders to develop mission trip budgets.

● Assist trip leaders with maintaining and adjusting trip budgets throughout the process.

● Receive, record, and track donations for all missions trips.

● Assist Bethel Missions Directors with Long-Term Missionary financial gifts.

● Manage check and cash deposits with the accounting department.

● Build, maintain, and monitor departmental budgets and expenses.

● Prepare and submit journal entries to ensure accurate financial reporting.

● Generate and send donor contribution statements in accordance with IRS standards.

● Manage departmental credit card spending, receipts, documentation, and submission to accounting.

● Enter departmental check, wire, and ACH requests and submission to accounting.

● Oversee the Bethel Trips app used to track trip cash spending.

● Work closely with the accounting department to improve and expand financial procedures including monthly meetings.

● Support Bethel Missions Directors and the Short-Term Coordinator in advancing the department’s mission and vision.


Minimum Qualifications

● Believes and adheres to the beliefs and vision of Bethel Church

● At least 2 years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or a related field.

● Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets, including formulas.

● Strong verbal and written communication skills.

● Missions or travel experience preferred.

● Experience managing apps or financial tracking systems preferred

● This position does not qualify for sponsorship of work authorization or an employment visa, so candidates must be legally qualified to work in the U.S. to be considered for this position.

● Ability to pass a background check


Preferred Qualifications

● Comfortable using AI-assisted tools in Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel (e.g., formula generation, data cleanup, and error-checking) to speed up budgeting and reporting.

● Experience using AI assistants (e.g., ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Gemini) to draft donor communications, summarize financial data, and support journal entry review.

● Familiarity with AI-enhanced bookkeeping and accounting platforms for automating expense categorization, receipt scanning, and reconciliation.

● Ability to use AI tools to identify budget discrepancies, flag unusual transactions, and support accurate financial reporting.
