Position Summary: The Associate Pastor of Missions, Evangelism and Social Justice works with the Senior Pastor to enable the church to focus on the Great Commission, assist in assessing the needs within the church family and community and developing programs/ministries to meet those needs. Committed to the calling of Jesus Christ as they are to their professional responsibilities. The person will be required to provide authentic, transformational worship experiences that connect people's everyday lives to God. Adhoc projects may be assigned by the Senior Pastor and/or Executive Director as is determined by the needs of the ministry.

Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Missions Functions

  • Give direction and assistance to various groups within the church that are planning and participating in local, national and international mission trips and partnerships. This is primarily in an advisory capacity with regular opportunities to participate ii these trips where appropriate.
  • Act as a liaison with missionaries and organizations the church supports
  • Assist staff to recruit and equip church members for local missions and short-term mission trips
  • Research, locate and follow up on mission projects, opportunities and needs within the local community as well as home and foreign mission fields.
  • Work with the Communication ministry to develop a strategy to keep the church informed about the impact of mission efforts
  • Supervise a reporting system that reflects accountability
  • Teach train and develop leaders and organize ministry that models evangelism and missions

Evangelism Function

  • Identify and implement a church-wide evangelism training program.
  • Plan and implement ongoing church-wide evangelistic events that include methods to mobilize our disciples to invite the unchurched and unsaved.
  • Assist the Pastor and staff in planning evangelistic worship events.
  • Assist and lead ministry staff in assuring that all events have an outreach or evangelistic component
  • Lead the baptism efforts by leading the team that follow up on new believers through baptism and church membership
  • Coordinate church efforts in area wide partnerships for evangelistic events
  • Work with the communications ministry to develop a strategy to keep the church informed about the impact of evangelistic efforts
  • Supervise a reporting system that reflects accountability for outreach and evangelism efforts

Social Justice Function

  • Sharing information, organizing social justice events, and facilitating calls to action
  • Broaden and deepen the involvement of disciples with opportunities to serve.
  • Collaborate with external partners to provide a Trauma-Informed approach to strengthen disciples through various educational and community services.

Qualifications / Skills:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree or Master of Divinity Degree from an Association of Theological Schools (ATS) accredited Seminary or Divinity School would be preferred.

  • Ability to make theologically based decisions and delegate responsibilities.
