V2X is seeking a Systems Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 to join our Engineering team in Indianapolis, IN supporting development and integration of advanced software, firmware, and hardware systems. These systems include store control electronics, mission computers, avionics, sensors, certification, and mission equipment for airborne and ground platforms. As a Systems Engineering Intern, you will work with experienced systems, software, hardware, and test engineers to help develop and integrate mission critical systems through requirements definition, architecture support, and test planning and execution.


Responsibilities

During this internship you will assist with requirements development, architecture documentation, integration planning, and verification tasks while learning the systems engineering lifecycle and processes. You will collaborate within cross functional Integrated Product Teams where effective communication and teamwork are important. If you are excited to start your engineering career, support DoD customers and international allies, and gain hands on experience in defense systems engineering, we encourage you to apply for Summer 2027 at V2X.

In this role you will:

  • Assist with eliciting, documenting, and tracing system and subsystem requirements
  • Support creation of system architecture diagrams and interface descriptions
  • Help prepare trade study inputs by gathering technical data and organizing results
  • Contribute to integration and verification planning and preparation of test procedures
  • Support basic test execution activities in lab or integration environments and record results
  • Help identify and document issues, risks, and defects for review with senior engineers

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Completed introductory coursework related to systems, software, or hardware design
  • Self-driven with a strong sense of accountability, able to manage tasks and deliver quality work on schedule.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

Desired Skills:

  • Strong communication skills and ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Fundamental understanding of system development lifecycle stages
  • Familiarity with core systems engineering terminology and concepts
  • Collaborative mindset with active listening and respect for diverse viewpoints

Actively pursuing a Bachelor’s (or Master’s) Degree in Engineering or related STEM discipline.
